Microsoft Releasing Faster Xbox 360 Dashboard This Year

Recommended Posts

Microsoft is admitting there's an issue and has a plant to fix it.

I bet it's a cannabis plant.

I also vote for no ads on a gold subscription.

I don't find the dashboard to be slow. What I do find, however, is a huge delay before my media files are shown when I access my NAS/Twonky device. On my PS3 the files are displayed almost instantaneously. My friend has a similar issue so I don't think it's an issue with my setup/configuration.

I hope the dashboard is reorganized. Call me dumb, but at times I find it confusing and tedious to use. Too many features are deeply embedded.

My dash seems okay, a bit slower. However the guide menu is laggy as HELL sometimes.

Exactly the same here. I only have about 50 on my friends list (I like to keep it trimmed down) so the dashboard never freezes, it is just the laggy guide that bothers me sometimes. Either way NXE was a welcome overhaul so speeding everything up makes it even better.

Well, win7 has native transcoding support now, through the GPU, so with the right app it shouldn't be a problem to play those HD MKV files on the 360 without having to reencode or change the container.

i only find my dashboard slow when i use a premium theme. If i use the default themes i never notice any slowness.

The dashboard is blazing fast on my 360, no slowdown what so ever...what is this slowness people speak of? I'm curious to know. Anyhoo, any new features/tweaks are always welcome anyway :)

As opposed to them purposefully releasing a slower dashboard this year?

Speed is always good, but it's not like I'm having huge issues as it is.

As opposed to them not releasing anything or releasing a dashboard where the speed was of no concern.

oh yeah forgot about that. Wasn't that only with Netflix? And does your friends have to have Netflix also? Or does only 1 of you have to have it?

No idea, not interested in the feature at all, if I want to watch tv or a movie with friends I'll invite them over :p

heh heh you said plant. just messing with ya.

the speed - it's OK overall, some occasional slowdown. the ads - don't mind them, they're generally functional, except the Inside Xbox videos keep having these mini-commercials when they start. We could do without those.

is this fall update going to give us a browser finally? is that so hard, IS IT?

Wtf? You mean to tell me that the Xbox dash has ads? And to top it all off you have to pay to play online? I had no idea, but then again I don't own a 360 nor ever will. Two consoles is enough for me.

Having seen some of the buzz online about the new dashboard and some of the stuff they have done for the 360, it sort of makes me wish I never got rid of my console when I did. But then again, once I can afford to get one again, I will end up buying the latest system which might be the X-Box 1020 or PS5. lol

One console is enough for most people.
