Shetland
I have been ever so tempted to get myself a dell mini or something similar to run OSX on but is it really worth the money? I imagine these things hanging after opening two safari windows and being generally sluggish. anyone want to chime in on their experiences? 9UnknownMen
It worked surprisingly well on a MSI Wind I hackintoshed for a friend(iDeneb). Although nowhere near as smooth and responsive as Windows 7 or even Ubuntu.
null_
Honestly, I find that the "Hackintosh" experience is just too much of a hassle to maintain the operating system installation and getting everything working. The last time I attempted to turn a notebook into a hackintosh, it thought it was a Mac Pro. You'd be better served using some version of Windows, or even Linux. .Neo
I guess that's what you would call a nightmare. (I'll quit now) ;)
+InsaneNutter MVC Posted June 26, 2009 MVC Share Posted June 26, 2009 It works near perfectly on my MSI Wind netbook, I was very impressed with how responsive it was and how quickly it started up and shut down. I would say the biggest downside is the 1024x600 screen resolution, is just too small for OSX. I remember finding quite a few applications would have the buttons at the bottom of the window off the screen so it wasn?t possible to click ok or see some options. I didn?t like having the dock on auto hide but it took up a fair amount of screen space unfortunately. It was a nice experience to have OSX fully working but I didn?t really find any practical use for it, if you hook the netbook up to a monitor I?m sure you could have a lot of fun with OSX. saxondale.
What's the best netbook out that works the best with os x?
+InsaneNutter MVC Posted July 1, 2009 MVC Share Posted July 1, 2009 The MSI Wind should run it near perfectly with only a couple of very minor problems, which can now be fixed. The only real problem I had on the MSI Wind was the earphone / microphone jacks don?t work, the sound still plays out of the laptop speakers when you plug some earphones in. I believe since I played about with OSX some open source sound drivers have been created that fix this. The only other problem you might have depends on the Wi-Fi card the MSI Wind comes with, I was lucky and got one which worked in OSX, you might need to swap it out for a dell 1490 which is recognised natively as an Apple Airport and fits in the Wind perfectly. The Dell Mini 9 and Samsung NC 10 should also run OSX, although I have not installed it on either of these netbooks.
