Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 25, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 25, 2009 I might buy it. I had fun with the demo and my brothers seemed to enjoy it. After all, they loved the first one. It's only $39.99US on Steam. That price isn't too bad.

Andre S. Veteran Posted June 25, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) I'm gonna try the demo as soon as I get some free time, this could be very fun. Can't wait for the gamespot and IGN reviews. edit : just found out the IGN review is already out for the 360 and ps3, and they gave it a 6, and it looks all-round mediocre. :( Edited June 25, 2009 by Dr_Asik

Slammers
I'm gonna try the demo as soon as I get some free time, this could be very fun. If you read through the actual review you'd never guess that it was gonna get a six. Then if you start reading the comments at the bottom of the review it seems others are disputing IGN's score. A quick google brought me many positive reviews of the game and only a few more negative ones. So if this is your kinda game, or if you liked the first one, I'd definitely still try it out. Andre S. Veteran Posted June 27, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 27, 2009 I played through the demo yesterday night, it took me maybe an hour or so. The graphics and performance are brilliant. I like the controls too. However, even after just an hour, I feel like this game lacks a lot of substance. For instance, you must slay baby seals with wolf-riding goblins or your 6-foot long axe, which in itself is a thoroughly enjoyable and anti-politically-correct idea, but there's no blood and gore to be seen anywhere at all. Come on, when I'm done with the seals, the snow should be soaked in blood! Instead, the seals just turn to the side and vanish when they die. Yes, it's 100% light-hearted, cartoonish evil here, there's no real substance except for a quite cheesy sense of humor. I don't think I'd stay entertained for very long. I was excited about a game centered on doing evil, but this game doesn't take itself seriously enough. It's a disappointement.

The rating would go up to M - that's why there's no blood to be seen and it doesn't really suit the game anyway. Actually, I completed Overlord 2 myself and I must say I haven't laughed at a game that much in a long, long time - there were tons of extremely funny things, especially if you happen to know a little culture and movies you'll spot tons of references. /whistles River Kwai. The only downside is that the game is either really short or then it was so much fun I blazed through it.
Andre S. Veteran Posted June 28, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 28, 2009 Differences in expectations I guess. Playing an evil character in Fable, for instance, you can behead your wife with a 30-pound axe after sleeping with her and fart over her headless body; at the same time, the game always remains quite self-concious and humoristic, but at least you can soak a whole town in the blood of innocents, grow horns and a menacing beard, and such delights. And yeah, it's M-rated. Overlord II is supposed to be focused on doing evil so I was bit let down. Again, I've seen very little of the game, just the demo, but based on that I personally don't have a strong incentive to buy it.
