null_
Windows 7 Ultimate is simply Windows 7 Enterprise, but made available to end-users on a per-license basis at retail. A few of the features it supports over Windows 7 Professional are support for Multilingual User Interface (MUI) packages, and services for UNIX applications. In other words, Windows 7 Professional will be more than adequate for most users (as it also includes Media Center).

No, No, Yes? :) Remote Desktop Host and BitLocker are only in Ultimate/Enterprise according to the Wikipedia article. As far as I remember they moved the complete backup to cover all products except maybe Starter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 25, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 25, 2009 Thanks for the link, GreyWolfSC. I was debating whether I should purchase Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional. After seeing the features for both editions, I've decided to go with the former.
hdood
If you care about Remote Desktop, get Professional. If you care about BitLocker and/or multilingual support, get Ultimate. Otherwise, get Home Premium. That's really how it goes for home users.
