webdoc
Hi there Have just been looking at the site link below h**p://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Windows-Windows-7/category/102?WT.mc_id=trevin_blog Can anyone tell me what if any are the differences between the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade version, and the Windows 7 Professional full version, as I want to pre order the upgrade version before the discount ends, but not if I am missing out by doing this. Apart from the price which for the upgrade pre order is $99.99 & the full version price $299.99 If there are no differences why would someone pay $299.99 for a full version. null_
The only difference is that you must own a license for Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business to upgrade.

null_
I currently run vista premium but I do have xp pro knocking around somewhere does that mean I will be ok?Regards Webdoc If you have a full license (provided either by an OEM or purchased at retail) for Windows XP Professional, you should be okay. From the Microsoft Store: Running Windows Vista? If you have Windows Vista, you can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade versions. You can do a clean install (back up your files, clean install, and reinstall your applications) or an in-place upgrade (Windows 7 installs over Windows Vista). Running earlier versions? If you have Windows XP or Windows 2000, you can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade versions. But you must back up your files, clean install, and reinstall your applications
surrealvortex
If you upgrade, can you continue using the older version alongside the new one?
Guest
if you upgrade, can you continue using the older version alongside the new one? No, I think when you upgrade the pervious license becomes invalid.

From the Microsoft Store: Hi thanks for that. Does that mean at some point I have to enter my current key to prove that I already have a license. However I now have another problem LOL, its seems as I am not in the US I cannot order this from the address I posted above as it needs a zip code to work out the tax ,and it will not take a UK postcode, I also cannot use the amazon.com site as it says Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S. The microsoft UK store don't yet seem to have a page to buy now for windows 7 like the site I posted above does, and no discount pricing listed on amazon.co.uk as yet. Regards Webdoc I am not sure if you will need to enter a product key for a previous version of Windows during setup or how it will detect that you are legally licensed to use the upgrade media. You may be able to simply use the upgrade product key provided with the Windows 7 upgrade media. In the UK, you will be able to pre-order Windows 7 starting July 15th. The price for Windows 7 Home Premium will be ?49.99, and the price for Windows 7 Professional will be ?99.99.
