Yeah something is definitely coming this fall. Following a few of the Xbox devs on Twitter and they keep saying they are working on something cool.

Well they wouldn't say they were working on something unremarkably ****.

Surely if it was anything huge they would have announced it at e3?

It doesn't have to be either, it could be pretty boring news or just maintenance :p

Who knows! They are under NDA obviously and not saying a word. There's been rumours flying around all week though.

After giving a lot of thought the only thing I came up with is that, it's definitely coming this year. And also the tweaks to NXE, the image background looks exactly like NXE's wall. So they might be rolling out NXE update beta soon.

Could be saving something for TGS or the German Games Con (wherever that is this year).

I am pretty excited to see what its all about.

Altec some people really like the avatars, I know more kids than adults of course, and me having 2 children myself, they LOVE the avatars and customizing them. I really would like to see avatar's used more in games, kinda like what the Wii does, but less kiddie, if that makes sense.. Like maybe being able to use them in say Tiger Woods or something as your golfer, and then you can show them customized with Golfing clothes and equipment on your Dashboard.. Or even to the point of if you are playing a game, and your friends go to their friends list, they will see your avatar holding golfing clubs, or a football outfit on when you are playing madden, or playing a guitar if you are playing rockband/guitar hero. I think little stuff like that is cool

I hate these avatars SO much, give me my damn classic dashboard back!

So ignore the avatar then? I don't even mind the avatars, but if I had to give a rough estimate of the percent of time I take note of them out of the total time my 360 is on, it'd be about 2. And that's a pretty liberal estimate. If it's the dash you don't like, however, I can't help you much there.

Licensed avatar clothing

randy.jpg

Over the weekend, Microsoft's Larry Hryb confirmed that the mysterious "Xbox 360 Beta" that a bunch of Microsoft employees were "testing" wasn't a game. Wasn't Natal. It was...licensed avatar clothing.

Here, we can see what he's talking about, as MS employee "Randy No Arms" here is fully decked out in garish Halo threads, from his cap to his kneecaps. It's an interesting look, and not one I was expecting.

When we first heard about this kind of thing, I figured that it would mean proper Halo clothing. Like, little Master Chief armour packs, or a Sgt. Johnson "Cap & Cigar" combo deal. Same goes for any other game; it just seemed logical that avatar gear licensed from a game/series would take the form of...well, digital cosplay.

Hopefully that's still coming, and this awful Hot Topic getup is exactly what it's supposed to be; a test.

^ It's worthless if you ask me. I would point a finger and laugh my asx off for someone actually paying for this crap. I never belive in paying something as useless as this, and this crap isn't limited with NXE either.

It was always going to come to this. Don't like it, don't buy it. Some people might enjoy paying silly money for that stuff but others won't. Not a fan of the avatar stuff and it hasn't grown on me.

I'd say that price is good news, not bad news. This is licensed clothing, not the achievement rewards we're waiting for.

I'm betting the rewards will be the Master Chief armor and such like we want.
