Miuku.
Games appear to be slightly smoother today. Though the tank is f-ing useless I've noticed. He-he! No it's not, it's actually pretty damn good - I've had some fun driving and gunning nubs down - apparently despite me being severely handicapped by playing with a controller, others are just as bad or even worse :-)
+Mystic MVC Posted July 12, 2009 MVC Share Posted July 12, 2009 This has been absolutely perfect on the PS3 so far, I've never not been able to play. It's a shame that they somehow managed to mess it up on the 360.It's a good game but playing on the same kind of maps is a little boring, I wish they had made this into a full game with all the maps from the original. I think it was just the sheer number of people trying to play on the 360. Not sure what the comparison numbers are but it would be interesting to see. I still suicide when trying to parachute. I see my chute fall to the ground, but I still die. What am I doing wrong? lol Are you holding A as suggested a page back?
joshwa
I had general problems on release day, however me and my friends have been able to play perfectly without any problems whatsoever since then.

what
Games appear to be slightly smoother today. Though the tank is f-ing useless I've noticed. It's useless if you rely on the main turret like most people do. For infantry you should always stick to the machine gun, unless you need to blast something out of the way first. LingeringSoul
I still can't connect on the 360 (I get the "Failed to connect to EA Online" message), but on the PS3, it was smooth sailing. If I had to guess, I'd say it is just an issue of traffic. There are probably way too many people trying to connect through the 360 right now (whereas the PS3 doesn't have that problem, thanks in part to its smaller install base). As for the game, I enjoyed the trial enough to seriously consider buying the full game. I remember when the original Battlefield 1942 demo came out, I spent so many hours on Wake Island. Hell, even after buying the full game, most of my time was spent on 24/7 Wake servers. Playing through BF1943 really did feel like re-living the glory days of Battlefield. Initially, I thought that some of the gameplay choices (unlimited primary weapon ammo, three classes) would ruin the game for me, but at the end of the day the game is still fun. The greater accessibility of anti-tank weapons is a nice thing to have, since it keeps me from having to cower on the ground for fifteen minutes while a tank is in the vicinity (something I begrudgingly did back in the old days of BF1942). I'm not sure how it is on the 360, but on the PS3, the game ran smooth as butter. I didn't notice any lag, and my connection at home is far from stellar. Bear in mind that I only played for a small amount of time (whatever amount of time the trial allows). My only worry is that the game may start to get boring pretty fast with only three maps, but I guess we'll see. Pleasantly surprised :)
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted July 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2009 If anyone is around, i will be hopping on (360) in like 15 minutes give or take a few minutes, so hit me up with an invite and we can see if the squad issues are sorted out. ViperAFK
servers are fixed for me. TBH I haven't tried joining as a squad because I just got an xbox and have like no one on my list that has 1943. My gamertag is gerbilBank (lol random name generator) if anyone wants to play later.
gigapixels Veteran Posted July 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 12, 2009 I still can't connect on the 360 (I get the "Failed to connect to EA Online" message) This is due to your gamertag not being connected to an EA account. Download the Fight Night Round 4 demo, skip the tutorial (or play it if you want) and then choose "Connect to EA Online" (or something similar, I don't quite remember) once you get to the menu. You'll go through a few dialogs and after it's all done your gamertag is linked. You shouldn't have any problems after that.
Mr_Edwardo
Anyone online now? just clocked up a few more hours and feel pretty confident now (getting 1st-3rd most rounds). Gamertag is "Mr Edwardo", would be cool to hook up with some more Neowinians so send me a request!
Massiveterra
played with Larry, Mystic, and Spookeh this afternoon. Such a great game. Honestly the best experience I've had on XBL in a long time
Spookie
I've had such a bipolar experience with live this week going from what I hate: Laggy, quiet and constantly disconnecting in games. To the other end of the spectrum like tonight with terra: A genuine laugh, a group working well together and beating seven shades out of the opposition! Best of all it was smooth gameplay too! It's pain really because I'm still out of work and can only afford to get live on the odd month. I think last time I was online was when Skate 2 came out! I'll have to make the most of it this month though. :)
Ayepecks
I swear, I cannot get a good team on Iwo Jima  I've lead the score 3 times on that map and am always on the losing team.

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted July 13, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 13, 2009 Yep we had some crazy fun rounds today. Definitely will have to play with you guy some more, we rocked! Yep, first off we had a pretty amazing streak there for quite awhile. Was a blast playing today... Which leads me to my next comment... DAMN THIS GAME IS GREAT NOW THAT IT ACTUALLY WORKS. Sorry for the all caps, I know, it's very childish, but just am happy it finally works as is and being in a full squad of people who want to play as a squad just makes all the difference. I just really hope they release some more maps eventually, but according to the FAQ on their website... Q. Will there be downloadable content?A. There is no plans for any, but things could change. So needless to say, I hope "things change." Still though a ton of fun, and it appears as if the extra Coral See Challenge map for the 360 could be unlocked in the next few days if the counter on the official site is correct... 25,093,
+Mystic MVC Posted July 13, 2009 MVC Share Posted July 13, 2009 Dirty, to expand on your thought I originally purchased this game to fill the gap until late August/early September when more games come out. Four maps may seem like not a lot but if you will be playing it for a while, then I definitely understand. I don't know, for $15 they already have given us such a great bargain. I guess I'll just see how things go.

I did everything you suggested, and it worked like a charm. After getting my gamertag connected (with the FN4 demo), I had no problems getting into a Quick Match in the BF1943 trial. In fact, the entire experience was quite smooth (no lag, fast connectivity). After talking to a buddy of mine who plans on getting the game, I decided to take the plunge and get the full version on XBL. Looking forward to seeing some of you in game. Thanks again, giga. Valerus
is this any good or does it tarnish the memory of 1942?
Miuku.
is this any good or does it tarnish the memory of 1942? Considering the most fun I had in BF1942 was in balancing on the wing of a bomber mid-flight, it's not possible to do that there. Hence it's much fail ;-)
Spookie
is this any good or does it tarnish the memory of 1942? It's like what TF2 is to TFC. It's somewhat limited in the scope of weapon selections and classes. But with the removal of some features it's much more balanced and much easier to get into. It is shallow in comparison to BF1942 but it doesn't make it any less fun.
