[Official] Battlefield 1943

So if someone from the US can just confirm if they are indeed still having issues, it would be appreciated.

I was able to get into a game on my second attempt today. Once I got in, it was a completely lag free experience. This game is awesome.

So basically US servers are still screwed?

Once again my plans have been foiled and apparently I will not be playing right now as I had initially planned, but there is always the possibility of hopping on in two to three hours when my wife falls asleep. However if there are still issues, I honestly will not even bother and just go to bed as well.

So if someone from the US can just confirm if they are indeed still having issues, it would be appreciated.

you can play you just have to hit quick match 10 times.

Wow, just wow! I haven't played a Battlefield game in a while but my friend who already purchased it brought it to my house today.

1. Visuals are amazing.

2. Not used to destructible environments (didn't really play Bad Company) so I love seeing a completely destroyed map at the end of the game.

3. Controls are pretty decent coming from a lot of COD4 so I have a feeling I'll get used to them quick. Only thing I am doing is hitting Y a lot to switch weapons.

4. As expected the game is almost perfectly balanced. I say that because with the wide open maps you expect full teams of snipers, but it is just the opposite. Sniping is difficult for most people so the average guy doesn't bother. With less classes and less maps, I expected good balancing and I haven't been disappointed yet.

5. On that note, the maps are quite fun overall, can't say I'm disappointed with any of them.

I plan on purchasing the full game this weekend so I can stop playing on my friend's account. If anybody wants to team up, I have a feeling I will be causing some havoc. :p

You've got to be joking right? :p

Visuals look very vanilla on the consoles.

Still undecided if I'm buying this on the console, it is quite fun and reminds me of my BF2 days :)

Anything that reminds me of BF2 will be stupendous!!

Still haven't done an online game yet. I did the Tutorial last night and couldn't get into an online match so I said screw it. Didn't get a chance tonight to try and I'm working the next couple nights so won't be able to play until probably Sunday. Agree with the visuals, they look pretty bland even compared to BF2. About to start paternity leave for 6 weeks - hopefully the little rugrat cooperates with daddy and lets me play :)

The smoke from explosions, water, etc look great. When I set an entire base leveled to the ground and on fire I saw some pretty great visuals for a "download only game". It's not Crysis but maybe I'm thinking this way because coming in I expected a lot less.

Nobody is comparing 1943 to full retail games, you'd be an idiot to think they are better than those.

As far as Arcade and PSN titles go, it's easily one of the best.

Will be back in action soon to kick some ass (Y)

No way! This game reminds me of BF1942, not anything else period. After all it is 1942 reboot.

I loved 1942 to death when it was released on PC many years ago and was very cautious of this one...boy I am very happy to see where they are going with it, and am looking forward to european campigns...can anyone say OPERATION MARKET GARDEN!?

The game is bloody awesome one of the best XBLA games since Geometry Wars 2. The game looks great for a downloadable title as well. I don't want to go back and play games where buildings can not be blown up.

Dice have done a nice job on this. I am hoping for more games like this on XBLA or PSN.

That map was epic. Parachuting in was a nice change of pace :)

I forgot to mention this earlier but the planes are great. I have already watched some dogfights just from the ground and people are quite good already. After playing four matches on my friend?s account I still haven?t been able to pilot a plane for more than 10 seconds. I finally got one but the match ended as I took off. I was worried that they would dominate but so far they don't seem like it.

Yeah. I thought that Wake Island was going to be the same as on BF2, but actually almost no one flew the planes, they were sitting in both carriers the whole round. People go after flags or getting in a tank, you rack up a lot more points that way.

DICE should make it an option to use the SIXAXIS tilt to fly the planes. I hate playing the the right analog stick.

So just tried going on a little while ago with 2 other people on XBL. Still not able to connect to any matches...

Here's an update as of about an hour ago of what EA/Dice are doing.

Update#7: With servers catching up to capacity needs we were able to confirm an issue other than capacity is affecting playing with friends. We are aggressively working on this to have it fixed ASAP and agree with comments that not being able to play with friends is unacceptable making it very important to fix. It is very unlikely to be client side and needs fixing within our network infrastructure.

We are also working on the issue some have with your existing account not logging into EA Online and thinking it doesn't exist. A possible workout will we sort out a proper fix is log into an EA game or Demo to help resort your login. It should never ask for the login if you have an EA account persona for your PSN ID or Xbox 360 Gamertag.

That is really weird. When my friend brought it over last night (before they added more servers) we got into a match within 10 seconds and the only time it was lagging was when I started to download things on the computer. :p

I'll have to ask him how it is doing today (if he has tried).

Was it just "single" player, or were you trying to join in with friends? I have a buddy thats able to get right in by himself, but since I'm "working from home" at the moment, I cannot try to get into a game with him, nor try by myself.

I'm seeing a trend (if you want to call it that) with people being able to get by themselves, and not with friends....just curious. I could be way off base with my thoughts though.

Funny how every popular release these days is having tons of server problems and they last for ages - Glad I didn't purchase this game on day one.

I don't think they anticipated how popular the game would actually be. When you're in a game there isn't any lag, it's just hard to connect.

It was just him (with me watching) as in we didn't try to join with a team/group of friends. It said connecting or whatever when you try to play a game and then we got into a match in about 10 seconds.

Funny how no developers or publishers anticipate popularity, servers always bogged down when it comes to gaming or downloads and they NEVER foresee it - What a welcome change it would be if they did. They might as well say it like it is, they don't have the means to support the incoming load and are just waiting for things to cool down. This happens EVERY DAMN TIME a game or a demo is released these days -.-

They can only try to stress test their networks so much. I don't know you can simulate millions of people trying to connect to your game (for the myriad of problems that can ensue), but if you do, you probably should let them know. Not trying to be rude, but considering the scope of things it is difficult sometimes.

I love flying the planes but I have yet to get a damn kill in them :p I love dive bombing too :D I will be on later tonight if anyone wants to add me.

Then why don't they say that? They couldn't test the servers to that load capacity instead of the same BS excuses as always. This happens time and time again, a demo is released or a game is released and the servers are getting hammered for days perhaps even weeks, then developers/publishers try to wipe some excuse off in our sleeve instead of just telling us the honest truth. You can't tell me with the amount of games having these 'server load' problems constantly and every time they excuse it with "We didn't foresee the popularity", the next batch of companies releasing a game would say "Hey, let's up the server count!"

It's a bit like those Eurogamer key giveaways, TIME AND TIME again their site was slowed to a CRAWL and they promised and made a lot of excuses, then the next giveaway it was a deja vu of epic proportions and I know a few people in here know exactly what I'm talking about. Just tell us your servers can't handle it and you are going to wait till things die out a bit or something, instead of telling us you didn't foresee it bla bla.
