Kushan
Here's what I reckon is going to happen in the future: The 360 Arcade is going to be "discontinued" in favour of the supposed "360+". I reckon the "360+", if it even IS a new SKU, is going to be an Arcade+Natal bundle. The Pro will stay the same, possibly a bigger hard drive (the 120Gb?), but other than that it'll be the same deal as we have now. And the Elite will be repackaged to have both Natal and the bigger HDD. And, of course, there'll be separate Natal and HDD packs you can buy to "upgrade" your system. That's what I reckon, anyway. sn00pie
It would make sense to keep the $199 Arcade and not bundle in Natal because that will raise the price. Microsoft has done well this generation with pulling things out of the console to keep prices low (wireless, hard drive etc.). It would make sense for them to go with a two SKU approach. $199 Arcade like we have right now, no Natal. Then perhaps a mixture between the Pro and the Elite to have a Xbox+ that will come with Natal for $299. I'm assuming Natal will also be sold as an extra accessory for people who have a Xbox right now, correct? How much did you sell your elite for? Price I paid minus the tax...which isn't bad :)
coresx
Link Look at the spine of these new, actual 360 Arcade boxes (pictured above, on the right) arriving at retailers across the US. Unlike previous models of the Arcade (on the left), which showed the relative inclusions offered in the Arcade, Pro and Elite models of the 360, this new box only shows the Arcade and Elite. No Pro. More evidence pointing to the Pro being canned or just trying to be more obvious with the differences and no news at all. If true, would be cool if it's actually the Elite which comes with an HDMI cable standard and not just the Pro with a 120GB hard drive. Nice complete package. Livin in a box
I don't see why the Elite is still more expensive; sure, it has a 120GB HDD, but it's EXACTLY the same otherwise to the current Pro, except that's white, and that can't make it cheaper. It has a HDMI port and everything, so... I'll hopefully be getting one for Christmas. ^^ Will go nicely with my PS3 and Wii.

Being black makes it more expensive because it's limited and it's priced higher. basically it's worth more because they say it is. it also comes with hdmi cable, audio dongle, bigger HDD and a black controller and headset. Black is known for being such a limited colour :p Actually the price of the elite in America is too high, it's the same as a PS3... ($399) In the EU/UK though the Elite is a much better price, it's like ?225?, the PS3 ?300.

PiracyX
Looks like MS are pulling a Sony and removing component/HDMI cable from the new bundles WTF! They are going to remove HDMI and Component cables together? Why not keep HDMI in at least since its so cheap anyway. It doesn't make much sense. Component was an extremely useful connection considering if your TV was older and didn't have HDMI connectivity and has to ability to do up to 1080p. Maybe they think most have HDMI equipped TVs now and will most likely have a spare cable to use. I still don't see why MS are removing both HD connections, If this turns out to be true. Ayepecks
I have a hard time seeing that being true (removing BOTH component and HDMI cables), personally. But if they move the Elite down to the current Pro/Premium's price, I guess it's possible.
BajiRav
If this is true, what's the point of calling it "Elite"? :/ Just keep it the way when they launched it - Xbox 360 Arcade and Xbox 360. Dropping HDMI/component is a stupid idea, especially if they call it "Elite".

But if they move the Elite down to the current Pro/Premium's price, I guess it's possible. I too am finding this hard to believe. I can't believe they would be so stupid as to sell a non-budget (ie. Arcade) console that is not capable of outputting HD out of the box without a separate purchase.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted August 6, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted August 6, 2009 Well if Sony slash to $299, MS are going to need to drop the Elite to $299 and with it looking like Sony are including a 120GB drive, MS can't save money on the hardware by reducing the hard drive size, so that's probably why they're ditching the cables. Even a few dollars in savings translates to hundreds of thousands if not millions of $ with the amount of these boxes MS will sell, do not underestimate every single cent when it comes to cost cutting on this scale (Sony even replaced a chrome strip with plastic). Cables are cheap as chips for the savvy consumer, and those not so savvy, well as I pointed out earlier MS will make some coin off of the official HDMI cable.
