Firefox 3.5 Released

Recommended Posts

That's because RC3 IS the final Firefox 3.5.

Yeah seems correct. I forgot about the timezone, they'll probably change the start-up page later.

Firefox 3.5 is not released yet

It is expected release June 30th (ie today)

Who wants RC when you can get the full version

I am checking here periodically: http://www.getfirefox.com

It should be soon ;)

When it's in the release folder on the Mozilla ftp and it isn't labelled as RC, then it most certainly is considered released. The June 30th date is when auto-update puts it out to 3.0.xx users. To find out if something is released, the general rule of thumb is to check the release folder on the mozilla ftp.

It's in a folder called 'release'.

They always hit the ftp way before the pages are updated.

Ps: it's July 1 in a couple hours here :p

you should not download it until there's an official announcement, the file in the mozilla ftp server could be incomplete or compromised by someone. Wait!

No need to worry any more. Filehippo have got the 3.5 download up on their site now.

You've missed the point. The RC IS the full, final version. That's why it's a release candidate - if no show-stopping bugs are found, that candidate becomes the final release. So what was released as RC3 a few days ago is actually the final, completed, ready-to-ship 3.5 build.

As I said I've read the definitions

But "RC" can still have minor modifications, before being released !

I note that the 3.5 version is on FTP and HTTP now, as linked above

But checking for updates in Firefox yields nothing still. And the webpage is still he same

By the way, does it say "RC" to anyone? (who installed this RC version)

But someone already said it's bit-for-bit identical. So, no changes.

No, RC cannot have modifications even if they are minor, any change requires more testing AKA another RC build.

Here's the conclusion

Its not released yet (only RC is released, which I suspect will be different, although I can't confirm this yet)

As others have said repeatedly, Mozilla does not put RC in the build info.
