basic questions in XBOX 360

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I just bought an XBOX 360 recently, I have some questions.

I started playing on the XBOX using an offine account (other words not connected to xbox live yet) and as it obvious I have some save points. If I connect to XBOX live will I be losing my save points? and what about I want to download some content for the game I am playing (like updates)?

One more thing, will I be finding some free games on XBOX live :woot: ?

and thank you in advance.

1. You will not lose any save points by going online.

2. Some games will have additional content for download, but in most cases you have to pay for it.

3. From time to time there are free arcade games, but not often and only for a limited time. However you can get free demos of most games.

Your saved games will work when you connect to Xbox Live, no problem.

You will need to connect to Xbox Live to download updates for your games. The Xbox 360 automatically notifies you if an update is available and will ask you if you want to download it.

If you want DLC you will also need to connect to XBL and it costs money.

There isn't many free games. Every once in a while a Microsoft partner will give away a game (like Doritos Dash of Destruction), but they aren't anything worth while usually. You'll certainly not find triple AAA (or even AA) games being given away.

If you use Twitter you can follow some Microsoft/Xbox employess or journalist sites like JoyStiq, who regularly give away Marketplace codes to redeem. Sometimes it's for DLC and other times for games. They leave part of the code blanked out and you are required to guess the missing characters.

Congratulations on joining the community. Don't worry about your saved game locations, as the guys above said. these are on your hard drive, not online. but you need to get on Xbox Live to really appreciate the experience, you get one month free when you activate your console, so get to it. This way you get to share more with others, like your gamerscore - you'll grow somewhat attached to that one!

Free games...not very likely, also as noted above. Keep an eye out on the dashboard though, they advertise discounted titles all the time.

Welcome aboard!
