CONFIRMED: Windows 7 To RTM July 13th

Recommended Posts

Right, well in light of that evidence I'd say it seems July 13th is a tad off.

So....

All versions of Windows 7 RTM will be released July 13th and distributed later this month by manufacturers?

No. The bottom line is, at this point, all we can do is sit back and wait to see what happens. It will not be distributed by manufacturers later this month -- It is supposed to be delivered to manufacturers later this month. It has been said that it will be available to technet/MSDN subscribers in the second half of July. Again, general availability is not until October 22nd.

It's already out, I bought the retail version earlier today. I'm using it now. The cover of the box has a picture of all the Presidents on it. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch.

Heh, it looks like there's some show stopper bugs that have delayed this release until "late-July", particularly one regarding activation that they want to have ironed out before the launch, so the roadmap has been altered. Update: http://www.geeksmack.net/microsoft/470-win...ly-altered.html

Yeah, I think I'll wait until the delay is confirmed by someone more reputable than "geeksmack.net".

Edit: Multiple sources are now listing the build string 6.1.7271.0.win7_rtm.090709-1520, so I can now assume it's true.

No that's what I'm trying to say; due to some show-stopper bugs I'm hearing that it may be delayed. Initially, it was set to be ready by the 13th, but now this has changed due to said bugs, including one that has to do with activation that they want gone before the RTM. Today was the day that they initially planned on having the gold build chosen, so really we should know by tonight whether or not they have in fact settled on a build.
