[SPOILER] Matrix Reloaded Explanations

Recommended Posts

Quick question...not much theory needed for this one.

Who was the person being hauled off right when Trinity, Morpheus, and Neo walk into the resturaunt to meet Merovingian? Right before they walk up to the table someone is pushed out of the scene.

Arkos - fair point ... but what you are talking about really is adaptation through evolution ... not evolution through mutation ... I perfectly understand the point that Neo could have "adapted" to be able to store a certain amount of charge ... (even though the capacitance of any animal's body is tiny, and even though adaptation so to speak takes a long time and wouldn't happen over a few hours, or days ...). It perhaps makes more sense to say that through his predecessors Neo has learnt to adapt to sensing machines, but the mini EMP idea just doesn't work in this scenario.

Dude, it's just a film, it's science "fiction". That means that they only have to come up with a somewhat plausible scenario to allow you to suspend disbelieve for a moment. You are over analyzing this. :) I think the Sentinals colapsing has something to do with humans used as batteries for centuries.

What keeps you conscious and keeps your nervous system working? Electricity. What would happen if you lost most of the electrical energy from your nervous system? Coma. 'Nuff said. This is enough of a plausible explanation for science "fiction" which based "loosely" on science as we currently know it. Sometimes it turns out that certain concepts from science fiction turn out to be true when our knowledge expands.

You are confining your thinking too much to what science currently understands to be true or even what you happen to be aware of.

aristotle ... yes, yes ... I know but what can I say - it's such a good movie, and sometimes I believe it was written to be over-analysed. I was just proving Arkos wrong about his ideas of evolution - that's all ;)

What keeps you conscious and keeps your nervous system working? Electricity.
Strictly speaking, it's nervous signals traveling as pulses, not really electricity :p

Ok ... perhaps, but I think we have a long time to go until we produce the first AI, and an even longer while to go until that AI takes over ;)

I take your points though, we are and always will be limited to what we know - perhaps one of the wonders of life :)

When Neo stops the sentinals at the end, i think he is beginning to wake up from the final matrix. This will not be easy, as presumably it was designed as a failsafe to stop anyone ever waking up properly.

Perhaps if Neo can truly wake up from the final matrix, the war will be over.

Thnx, this was the closest answer i was looking for as to why NEO was able to stop the machines in the presumably "real world"

first of I haven't made up my mind on the subject, but I object to your reasoning:

He isn't in the real world, the guy he infected is a phyco in the real world (cut his hand, nervous, afraid) totally not like Smith (my favourite character in this movie). Smith is more like a suggestion in his mind/brain, wich afterall is elecricity based

I disagree with the smith or bane cutting his hand being afraid. Some post way closer to the beginning was saying that, Smith (Bane) was cutting his hand because he was testing to see if he was indeed in the "real world". After all Smith cant leave the matrix, but he did infect the mind of Bane by inhabiting it. So thus he's inside Banes body, and he's cutting his hand to see if he really is back. In the first matrix, i don't remember seeing the agents bleed because they are programs. Thus by seeing himself bleed he knew he was back and by hearing Neo and the others past by, he was going to strike then.

Anyone every notice after watching Reloaded, the Architects tv's are the same one's shown in the first movie when Neo is first shown in the Agent's interragation room.  Think the Architect was watching then?

Duuuuuuuuuude!!!

Compare the attached pitcure to the one behind Neo in this link: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2...ox-office_x.htm

This seems to tie in The Architect to the first movie... =) Yes?

whoa -- didn't notice that.

It must be a reference to the architect.

Thats really good - that means they actually thought about the whole plot before releasing the first one - reloaded and revolutions aren't just tacked on to "the matrix"

I got a few questions for you all?

1) This may sound lame but 01 is the name of the machine nation and The one is the name of neo. Any chance that Neo is just a program inhabiting someone else's body?

2) The spoon? It's an odd gift isn't it. Neo already knows he can control the matrix. Any greater meaning?

3) Do you think the kid from the animatrix might play a bigger role. After all he was the first to die in the matrix but wake-up in the real world. (kinda like neo did?)

4) When agent smith was trying to copy himself into neo did any of their code merge again? Neo said he felt dead, like he was in that hall-way again. Why is agent smith encrypted?

5) At first glance, i thought was tom servo was thinking (ie: neo never left the matrix when he went through that door. He was simply moved to possibly another one. I however think that machines can take over "hosts" and that's exactly what neo is. However, that wouldn't explain his super powers very well.

6) What was that token that the oracle gave to neo before they met again. It looked like a broken computer chip.

7) There were many hints in the movie stating that the machines and the humans need to co-exist in a symbiotic relationship. I thought it was interresting how the neo thought they were in control of the machines but if they kill them they die. The councillor said there was no point to be made. I think the machines are in the same position. They may be in "control" when in fact they have none. I believe the humans nor the machines will "win" per-say but i don't think they'll get along either.

This has been a pretty good thread full of insight and the works. Thanks to that dude who posted the convo btwn the architect and neo. I thought that was pretty helpfull.

I thought many of the ideas, including the computer stack was pretty interresting but i think its unprobable. The matrix is a computer though, and there are many symbols like the back-doors that we need to think of. I'm sure well find out more about the survivors and the others in terms of computer lingo.

I think the wachowski brothers like to think in the sky. This movie threw us for a twist the next one will go further. It will probably be very unpredictable.

ps: I thought this was interresting. http://www.insecure.org/

Its a screenshot of trinity using ssh and nmap to hack the emergency power.

I think its an interresting password she chose. I never looked at the password itself untill i read this thread.

For those unfamiliar with unix, the root password is THE PASSWORD, that gives you full privelages to the system. Her exploit allowed her to changed the password to

zion 01 01

01 could be neo, 01 is the name of the computer nation,

and trinity is something like all three are one and the same. (from bible, father, son, holy ghost)

edit:

Wow that was a long post. I didn't even say 1/10 of everything on my mind. I better get out into the real world.

YEs i have noticed that! I have watched the Matrix amny many times. Everytime i have gotten to the room with the agents holding him, it has always seemed that the camera passed through a televison screen. If you were to go to any tv and stare really close, you will notice the same effect but in the movie.

Sorry if i didnt explain that to well.

I still strongly believe that the Oracle knows that man and machine must live together somehow. Like Neo said, the people of Zion could unplug the engineering room machines but then the people would ultimately end up dying because they depend on the machines. The same with the Matrix. The machines could unplug all the humans from the Matrix and then they wouldn't have to worry about humans revolting against them but then they would ultimately die. The Oracle doesn't want a perfect harmony but she, as an exhiled program, has seen what needs to happen and does not believe in how the machines are going about controlling the humans.

god, i love how deep the rabbit hole is. even after revolutions we will still be speculating on why this and that happened, but guys, no speculations on revolutions. the thing that ruined reloaded for me was all of the clips and spoilers provided that made u think about it and you peiced most of the plot together. for revolutions i want to be completely in the dark. :)

the spoon is probably connecting the first and second movie. in the first movie, the child in the waiting room where the oracle was living gives him a spoon and tells him to think that there is no spoon...so that he could bend it....like the child did..maybe there's some kind of connection  i'm confusing myself

the number one reason i pretended i had no idea about the matrix comming out with a second movie. when i went to go see it, i had no idea what to expect. it made it like 28347293874982374 better. im making all my friends from school watch The Matrix then go back to the movies and watch Matrix Reloaded.

Just saw something interesting in the Revolutions trailer - seems Agent Smith learns how to fly ... further connection between Neo and Smith?? Also that really does look like Tank's head - what ever happened to Tank anyway! All we know is that Link's wife says "I lost two brothers to that ship."

i think maybe tank died from the injuries he sustained after the guy attacked him with the laser shootin gun. I took a pic of his injuries, looks severe.

I thought I heard a long time ago that the actor playing Tank wanted too much money so they easily got rid of him by introducing Link which works better anyway. That is just a rumor and I have not sources to back it up.

tank was slated to be in it, but wanted way too much money to be in it. So they cut him out of the film. Wachowski brothers felt bad about it, wanted him to be in it, but the studio said no way we are going to pay him that. The guy did want an insane ammount of money as if he was a leading actor in the film. Worked great without him.
