Champions Online.

I tried CoH recently and just couldn't get into it. The idea of creating my own superhero is awesome, but IMO CoH was poorly executed. It felt disjointed and cheap.

Hopefully this one can do it better. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

The problem I had with CoX, is that even mobs that are my level, and some lower level than me, are grossly overpowered, it's the reason I stopped playing CoX in the first place, and 3 years later nothing has changed so I only played for like 15 minutes on my old account and logged out.

That's still there to an extent with Champions (certainly at early levels, didn't get to experience beyond level 8 due to my previously mentioned bug that no one ever bothered resolving) depending on which powers you pick - I started off with Gadgeteering and it was a bit of a struggle, created another character as Frost and it was significantly easier.

My char on CoX is over level 10, and yet years later you think they'd work on balancing mobs, etc.

Dude I just dont see how its possible. Are you not using enhancements? Seriously dude there is no way even con critters or below are killing you unless you are using like the power rest at the same time (Rest = -1000% resistance to damage, -1000% defense). Explain to me what you are doing that is making this game hard. There are like maybe 1 or 2 faction in the game that I dont even mess with due to difficulty so unless its something like malta or carnies and even then thats only if I have my difficulty set to he max, there is just no way what you are saying is true. Things have gotten so stupidly easy for everything else in the game that players have started to create challenge missions with custom critters just so some people dont get bored. We got folks who can solo arch-villains and giant monsters basically stuff thats way higher than a player that normally takes 8 or more people to beat, and you cant even handle a few white con minions? I am speechless man, please explain man I got hear how this is even possible.

Level 10??? Thats still the most easy part of th game. I could see if you were complaining about the level 40+ range or you were up against custom critters set to extreme but your at the begining. Let ask you this do you play any othr MMOs? If so what have you played and do you struggle with any of them.

I don't care anymore, because I am not touching it again unless they make it F2P, I've got better things to play. Oh, and I've got a tank, and I do know what I am doing.

Anyways, CO comes out soon and DCUO probably not that long after, I just wish Marvel would have stuck to their guns and brought out MUO.

  • 1 month later...

Alright, I've been playing the open beta, and I'm hooked. Kinda ****es me off too because I'm loving Aion online and looking forward to the next final fantasy. Jesus. I don't have the money for these games.

During the last CB of CO that I got into, I got to around level 12 by the time they shut the game down to update & wipe everything for the Open Beta.

I was in the last Closed Beta for AION, but couldn't get into this one without a key and they all went fast. You think they would have let the people who were in the Closed Betas into this one but no the decided against doing so. The only problem I had with AION is it's basically more or less the same story if you play as either Elyos or the Asmodians.

I have been playing open beta for Champions and was also playing the open beta for Aion, I have already purchased Aion, love it, and once I get some money I will be picking up this game as well. Such a fun game to play.

Be that as it may, you'd think they'd have chosen a lot of the people that signed up when it opened, I've got a highend system, so to test on my system would have been good for them, and now I must wait for OB but yet I still check to see if I get an email inviting me in.

That's not always what companies look for when selecting testers. Sometimes they want the minimal supported system to make sure the game works on an average computer. :)

Unfortunately, (especially when it comes to MMOs,) most QA teams just select people randomly or by queue. Thus the plethora of games that just don't "work" when they're released. Witness: The CO "open beta" is via FilePlanet subscription, first-come-first-serve, and it's a whole week! :(

Same here. I'm probably going to preorder, with the 6 months for 60$. Can't beat that I suppose.

Guess you missed post #33.

That's about Aion... I don't see anything about bad beta management. :)

I got a key from FP and downloaded the OB client. The character creation was ok, but overall performance is awful and there were like 20 people standing around one of the rescue quest areas waiting for injured citizens to respawn. I don't think I'll be picking this one up. This is supposed to be the end of testing and it feels like it needs another 6-12 months of work.

CO = EPIC FAIL

lol. How do you figure?

The game rocks. From being able to create the entire look of your character from the beginning, to combat with no waiting for

cool-downs... I'm having a blast.
