Aero_Rising
I have been thinking lately about buying a 360 but have been holding off because I can't decide if it's worth it because I can't decide if I think microsoft is gonna release a new console soon. I was thinking maybe they might bump the specs but keep it compatible but I don't know. So i'm wondering is it worth getting a 360 now and if so which one? I know i'm late to the 360 game but i've wanted one since they came out and now that I have my own job I can afford it.
Knightwolf20024
as far as a new console nothing been announced or confirmed see Major Nelson for more information on it. as for which one you should get if you plan on downloading and playing alot of games i suggest either the elite or 60 gb pro either one of those are good choices. i got a pro my self and its well worth it to get it now. sensurround
I think they have said Natal will be compatible with all current 360 machines. The "new console" if there is one, is most likely going to be just a 360/Natal bundle. I am completely biased as I am a 360 owner myself, but I say go for it and get one now. Get one with a hard drive though...I kick myself every day for getting an Arcade and I am just a "casual" gamer...I miss not being able to download demos and stuff. If that doesn't interest you, the Arcade may be worth the extra cash in your pocket. Otherwise get Elite or Pro.
Dead_Monkey
Well, even with an indefinite release date, every day that you wait is another day that 1. You're not playing 360 games 2. One less day to the release of the successor to 360. Do you want to play games tomorrow or not? I was an early adopter (February after launch, basically as soon as I saw one in a store), so my opinion was that it was worth buying then. The software support is only greater now. vip
I got xb360 the day it launched, I am planning on trading it in soon to get the Elite. I love it, even though I don't play it as much as I used to due to work, I still don't regret getting it ...
fifewiskey
I would definitely get a 360 now. Everyone is developing games for it since the PS3 is so hard to develop. The only draw back is paying for the Live Gold account. If you aren't going to be online much than there is no need. So, I concur with everyone else. Just another voice in the crowd. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 8, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 8, 2009 You can buy now or wait for the holiday bundles in a few months. If there is nothing immediate you want to play then it's probably best to hold off. The next big games coming out are Wolfenstein,, Batman, Dirt 2 and Bioshock 2. After that we'll start to see some Holiday bundles appear for preorders. i.e Halo 3 ODST & MW2 being the bigger ones. MS aren't going to launch a new console anytime soon. If they were, it would have been announced at E3. Again if you're unsure then holding off until TGS will work out better for you as well, as that would be the next big show for them to unveil something. neoadorable
don't think - act. get one. i thought late 2010 for a new Xbox, but now it seems it won't happen before Xmas 2011. So you have a good chunk of time there, at this point i wouldn't even figure in the next Xbox in the decision. The 60GB will be enough for you, get the standard 360. Kalint
Yeah and get Xbox Live Gold. Even though you have to pay it's well worth it. Dead_Monkey
There's a thread around here about cheap XBLM points, and that site also sells Gold codes. As long as you use code cards, you can get those inexpensively through all sorts of outlets, and you'll pay about half the price of what you would pay on an annual basis renewing automatically with a credit card. The month-to-month credit card renewal plan is the real rip-off.

Dead_Monkey
anybody know when the 45nm GPU/CPU or "Valhalla" coming out ? I'd anticipate by Spring next year, but they may hold it for a form factor refresh for Holiday 2010. Natal isn't coming until Holiday 2010, so disabuse yourself of the idea of a Holiday 2009 release. The software isn't ready yet, kits only shipped to devs at the time of E3, and they don't want people just crapping out games that barely support Natal for facemapping or something like that as they did with the Vision camera, they're looking for ground-up game concepts. Aero_Rising
Ok I'm convinced I'm gonna get one now instead of waiting now to just convince my mom i'm not wasting my money. Yes I know it's my money but i'm only 16 so i'll get in trouble if I buy it without asking.
neoadorable
errr...you must be 21 and have a manly voice to qualify for 360 purchase, so we don't have hear any screeching child warriors on COD4...well not but i tried (smilies don't work but i'm sticking my tongue out, i promise!) Like as in new birth of new technology? And why would Microsoft care about what one word meant in Portuguese? :D Is Microsoft planning to take over the Portuguese Christmas? Haha Plus with all the high profile release games coming out this holiday season, the last thing they want to do is over-shadow another high profile game/ technology. That isn't smart marketing..and up to now, they have done a pretty good job marketing.

Natal is a city in Brazil, Brazil speaks Portuguese. Microsoft has recently been using Brazilian place names for project code names (another example is Morro, their free anti-virus suite that is coming up). lothodon
as far as the hard drive goes. if you plan on installing games (i install all mine, MUCH quieter while playing and not so hard on the dvd drive) the 120gb drive on the elite even fills up fast. depends on your plans but personally i don't even play games without installing them anymore.
