EA has confirmed to VG247 that Command & Conquer 4 will not release on consoles.

No reason has been given for the decision to keep the game as a PC-only release as yet, but we've asked for official comment. We're guessing we're going to get something including the word "focus".

C&C4 was announced earlier today for a 2010 release.

Gamespot's now posted the game's first screen, showing units doing the do. As they do.

Hit the release link for full details.

PC only? Sensible EA, sensible (Y) (actually, I'm not joking).

edit: Meant to post in PC gaming, not GH

Impressive graphics but the EA Command Conquers are always in such small maps I prefer the huge size of Supreme Commander and I await the sequel to SupCom. I couldn't care less about this EA Milking fest. 'Omg a franchise ! quickly we must kill it with Fire, Endless nonsensical sequels and expansions'

Command and Conquer has always been more of a casual RTS, nothing wrong with having them as well. Also RTS games need kb/m, that's one of the main reasons they nearly all blow chunks on consoles and have to be dumbed down to just pick one type of offensive troop and keep mashing x to win level.

Not everyone can dedicate 4 hour marathon sessions to Civilisation. I'm playing Anno 1404 right now and it's a good balance between having to micromanage how the grass grows and another 8,000 things at once, and just having good fun, and it looks gorgeous maxed out on my rig.

PC is the home of RTS games and always will be, it's good to see developers not waste resources on the consoles. EA didn't even support kb/m with Red Alert 3 on the PS3 when they could, it's just pointless making console RTS games.

It'll probably be free and then you have to purchase each individual map, unit and base structure for $5.

Good. I had Red Alert 3 on the 360, and although i loved it, it kinda destroyed the original CnC massive army steam rolling that i enjoy doing. (Because of the 50unit limit)

I ended up getting it for the PC, runs perfect on windows on my macbook bootcamp partition.

Apparently C&C4 will have no DRM at all. Although, you have to be connected to the Internet and EA for your profile.

So a game that isn't watered down in certain areas to make it compatible for the consoles and is a pure PC RTS? Win-o-Win!

How was C&C3 "watered down"?

Meh, I'll try it out but I'm not really a fan of C&C anymore after playing SupCom. I can't really describe it but it feels a bit 'arcadey'.

Interesting. Looking at the screenshot, we've gone back to mecha/quadruped style walking units, and the crashed ship looks strangely loke the Kodak from Tiberian Sun.

It's not a re-telling of TS is it? :s Perhaps a prequel to C&C 3?

There is a countdown and video on http://www.commandandconquer.com/cnc4/index.html

from the link in the op

The story of Command & Conquer 4 takes place after the events of the critically acclaimed Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars?. The year is 2062 and humanity is at the brink of extinction. With only six years left until the mysterious crystalline structure Tiberium renders the earth entirely uninhabitable,

interesting... after they finish off the Tiberian storyline, they still have Generals and Red Alert .... like, more 'realistic' or 'contemporary' storylines ...

Yes true, 4 hours is the warmup I guess :p

(I played quite a bit of Civ 4 FTR, and it's one hell of a time hog either way)
