Where have you been kicked out of (with a CAMERA)?

Recommended Posts

haha... no. They'd never allow that.

Depends how much you pay the police ;)

Just kidding haha.

Never been kicked out of anywhere... I carry a Canon SD790IS with me very often. Just needs to conceal it well and snap the photos fast and accurately. It took years of training. :p

Paddington Station (by police), front area of New Scotland yard (by police), nearly kicked out of Greenwich park (by police), Cinema (about six times, various locations), numerous bars and clubs. Station platform a couple of times (by...transport police!), and once not kicked out, but asked to desist my photography of a nuclear power plant. Also had my bag searched a couple of times now. Never really had an issue with anything important though.

Pandya - do you comply with these trumped up nazi security people, or what? My instinct would be quite aggressive but that's not gonna help...

Nah, always comply and never be confrontational. Yeah, they're usually being complete nazis, but equally, most of the time it's really really not worth arguing the point; it's not going to get you anywhere and they're just going to get more ****ed off. Security people I'll usually ignore though, but Police, always comply. Just not worth it; if they're in a bad mood they will toss you in the slammer on suspicion of whatever they feel like, and that kind of hassle is just not needed.

how the hell did you managed to be kicked out from so many places?

I was wondering if police has the right to confiscate equipment..cuz that would be horrible.

What police states do you live in? Here in Sweden I've never been asked to leave due to a camera, and then I've taken photos of military bases, nuclear power plants and so on.

I've always wondered that as well, and probably why I'm really hesitant to take pics in commercial areas. In Ontario, according to the law, unless there are clear signs, fences, or markings, it is NOT trespassing until you are asked to leave and refuse to do so. I'm well acquainted with this due to stealth camping along the Bruce Trail. Although one must be careful in more urban environments, if you are out in ghetto small towns, the cops really won't care about calls for trespassing, unless 1) you are doing damage, harm, or something else stupid, or 2) you are on farmland (crop theft is taken very seriously, and just being on the land can get you in the slammer for a night).

Had an argument with a vicar outside a church before, Took a photo from the street, apparently this was against the word of god and needed to get the law involved? Oh well, I guess i am going to hell :p

I was once kicked out of a casino with my friends.

We got asked to stop taking photos in a casino, Some security guard came asked us to stop or leave...we soon put the cameras away after seeing the size of him lol

I was asked to stop taking pictures at Government Center (underground subway station) in Boston. I was waiting for my train and had my 70-300 mounted. Must have been the "professional look". :p

I got kicked out of school an hour before a final exam. I was so ****ed I'm not even considering going back.

I got booted because my parents ceased to make payments on time.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but assumed it being in the Digital Camera Lab was sufficient enough... *sigh* Fixed it.

Apparently even with the fixed title it's still not helping much. :p

OnTopic: Nowhere that I can think of right off hand, although I don't take many pics either.

I got kicked out once. I took a mate to a brothel for his birthday (virgin lol) and i was wasted and lets just say that hookers don't like their photos been taking..damn flash

I would have hated to of had my first time with a ######.

I have not been chucked out just spoken to in shopping centers, I once got told off by a guy who saw me loading a into an SLR film, I wasn't even taking any pictures, of course if you use a compact they don't take any notice.

Outside Google's headquarters.

Actually, it was my co-worker with the camera. I was just tagging along. All we wanted to do was go and take a quick tour of the place ... my co-worker got like 3 pictures before a security guard came up, asked us what we were doing, and told us to leave. But heck, we got to see the volleyball nets they have. :) haha

Not for taking pictures, but when I lived in Beijing, my mom came for a visit from Canada. I was showing her Beihai park when we were suddenly shoved out some side door onto the street. Turns out the French president was there and wanted to go through the section we were in :p . We still had our ticket stubs, so we came right back in and went back to where we were. The President was gone by then though, luckily.

Heh, I was at Que Pasa with my girlfriend and another one of our friends. She went to the toilet, and I finished off the roll of film in QP, so I decided to load some more. Being that Delta 3200 is extremely sensitive to light, I decided to go to the gent's toilets, where I know one of the cubicles had a broken light, and as such, relative darkness, to load some more film. The girl behind the bar sees me dissapear towards the toilets, just after my girlfriend, with a camera and a roll of film in one hand, then return a couple of minutes later, with her, camera in hand. She put two and two together and assumed I'd been taking inappropriate photos in their toilets, and I had an interesting discussion with the manager.

Long story short; even though practically nobody uses film any more, be careful about how and when you load :p

Not for taking pictures,

So you start off saying that your post won't contribute to the original purpose of the thread?

haha, good story.

British police on the whole are a bunch of officious winkers, the thing they hate most are people who know their civil rights, so next time anyone from the UK out with a camera, arm yourself ;)
