WhizzKid
Anyone else following the development of NS2? I played Natural Selection like crazy. In my opinion it's the best game I've ever played; it deviates from the traditional FPS game in such ways that make it very catchy and fun to play. I've been waiting for NS2 forever, and it finally seems to be moving along at a steady pace. I preordered the special edition, hopefully the alpha will be coming out pretty soon. Anyhow, if you haven't seen it, check it out http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2
The Teej
Interesting, I didn't see it becoming a commercial stand alone product. There's a very good chance it'll do pretty well in its own right.

Even still, for a HL mod that isn't CS, it has a LOT of players. I think that if it gets enough attention, and if people give it a chance next to the "mainstream" games published by EA and the like, it's going to kick some serious ass. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted July 10, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 10, 2009 I'm definitely pumped for this game. I had so much fun playing Natural Selection. My only regret is not playing it when it came out. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I actually played it for the first time. It's such a unique game and I really hope Natural Selection 2 matches or exceeds the level of "fun" the game provided. The first time I heard of Natural Selection 2 was on some gaming website. They showed a screenshot of infestation spreading along a wall. At the time, I believe the game was powered by the Source engine. However, the developers at Unknown Worlds later made their own NS2 engine. It looks amazing and I'm sure it'll look even better when the game is released. Click here to see some footage of the NS2 engine. And by the way, the teaser you may have seen was all in-engine. Yes, it's that impressive. Anyway, you can follow the developers of NS2 on Twitter or join them on Facebook.
Dashel
https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?show...ral+selection+2 But yea, NS was the **** and Flayra looks to pull this off and truly put Unknown on the map. Such a great community of players back in the day. Makes me want to start humming the Mario Bros theme already.
Minifig
I want to say this will do extremely well, but the fact they're charging for it makes me very, very leery.

NS for HL1 isn't going away if you don't want to pay. Otherwise they're a new studio trying to make their mark in the gaming industry - they need our support. WhizzKid
What do you mean the fact that they are charging for it makes you leery? What, do think that the hundreds of hours, if not thousands of hours of work that goes into making such a game doesn't deserve $20 a copy? Not everything works like Linux. Some people need to make a living. Flayra and the rest of the developers have made this game their day job, and trust me, the quality is going to show that. I think they deserve a lot more than $20 a copy, in fact...

That's understandable. Try to think of it this way though: Since the game isn't [going to be] free, the developers will put more effort into making it "good". After all, their goal is to make a game that will sell and in order to do that it would have to be an enjoyable game.
Aero_Rising
This engine looks fantastic and it was made by only 4 people if the game is as good as the initial teaser footage it will sell no doubt about it.
