+xWhiplash Subscriber² Posted July 10, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted July 10, 2009 A few months ago, I posted that I was having trouble with networking in OS X. thefarewellnote helped me out and it worked for a while. I recently had to move my mac and had to use my wireless router instead of my wired one. Now I am in the same situation, but this time thefarewellnote's technique will not work. The workgroup and everything has not changed, neither has the IP address of the mac. I cannot connect with it no matter what I do. My PC cannot find my mac and my mac cannot find my PC. I know it is not the router because my PC could connect to my laptop when I had it. So what should I try?
General Disarray
set your WINS server setting in networking to your routers ip can you ping it? if so just map the hostname to the ip in hosts file

General Disarray
do you have a firewall on the pc or mac? can another pc ping the pc? if you cant ping it, i don't think its a mac problem
+xWhiplash Subscriber² Posted July 12, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 12, 2009 Yeah everything was working fine, the only difference is I had to use airport instead of the ethernet connection. Every other windows computer can see my PC.
