Xbox 360 Wireless controller on the PC?

Recommended Posts

I've been digging around today and found my old 360 Wireless pad and a plug n charge kit and plugged it in to the computer (thought I could use it for the PC), but I've installing the drivers and so on but I have no options to use it. Is there a way I can get it to work? I don't want to spend money getting that Wireless radio dongle since I don't want to spend money on something so trivial.

It won?t work unfortunately, you can only charge the 360 with the play and charge kit.

You either need the wireless receiver for the pc or a proper wired controller, sorry not what you want to hear I know... I was pretty annoyed myself when I found out.

The wireless receivers break easy too, plugged mine in to a friends Mac Mini and it never worked agai:s:s doesn?t power on or anything. Worked perfectly fine 10 seconds before when it was in my PC.

I have had two since day one and have never had a problems. I would say you just got a bad one it happens. I have seen the wireless receivers online for like 9.99 but I can't remember were but I am sure a bing will give you some hits.

My brother has one which lasted about 2 months, he only ever plugged his in to play Gears of War on the PC, maybe we both got unlucky as we did buy them at the same time.

The second one I got has been going strong for 6 months now, Works perfectly with Dolphin, the Wii / GameCube Emulator too.

My receiver died when I plugged it into my new PC. Luckily I found a fix online. What actually happens when the receiver dies is a fuse blows. All you have to do is solder across the fuse to bypass it. I tried it and it works. If anyone has a dead 360 receiver and basic soldering skills you can try soldering across the F1 fuse to fix it.
