DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 14, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) August 29th, 2009 @ 17:19 By Stephany Nunneley SEGA has announced that Sonic & Knuckles are hitting Xbox Live on September 9 complete with the cart stacking bonuses of the original title. However, you have to have the original games on XBLA first for it to work. D?toid has provided the full details: ?With Sonic the Hedgehog, you?ll unlock the ?Blue Sphere? bonus Chaos level from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. If you own Sonic the Hedgehog 2, then you?ll be able to play as Knuckles in the game. Playing as Knuckles will let you reach areas that Sonic can?t reach and will include new power-ups too. And with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, you?ll be able to play the game as Knuckles and the design of the game is changed so the experience between Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles feels seamless.? Sounds like something Sonic fans have been waiting for. More through the link. http://www.vg247.com/2009/08/29/sonic-knuc...bl-septemb:D-9///Old :D //Old So I was just checking the upcoming release list and I spot Sonic & Knuckles. I completely missed this news, although I don't think it has been officially announced. Anyway so I googled it and found some news & screens.. XBLA: Sonic & Knuckles XBLA Bound, Complete With Lock-On Technology Dutch website SegaOnline has gotten its hands on some supposed leaked screenshots of Sonic & Knuckles for Xbox Live Arcade. Much like their previous leaks they've turned out to be quite real. The screen shot simply shows the interface of the Sega Vintage Collection design, but clearly shows the ability to "Lock-On" with Sonic 1, 2 or 3 from within the game. This ability was completely omitted from the retail Ultimate Genesis Collection with a large outcry from fans who wanted the feature, to play Sonic 3 & Knuckles like it was meant to be. Whether or not this screenshot is real like the others is currently unknown, but considering the track record of things getting leaked for Xbox Live Arcade it would not be surprising at all. http://www.gamerbytes.com/2009/04/sonic_kn..._bound_comp.php<:D /> Epic :D Edited September 11, 2009 by DrunknMunky

DrunknMunky Veteran Posted July 15, 2009 Author Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2009 ^ Talk about commitment It is a fantastic game though. I bought it day one back when I was a kid and still have it in a box in the loft, but even I'm tempted to buy it on Arcade for old times sake.

Antaris Veteran Posted July 15, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 15, 2009 They are two seperate games, but with a continuing story. To enjoy the full story, you need to play them locked-on.

To enjoy the full story, you need to play them locked-on. whats does "locked on" mean? http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_3 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the Sonic series' third outing on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. The game is closely tied to its direct sequel Sonic & Knuckles, as the two games were originally one until time constraints and cartridge costs forced the game to be split into two interlocking parts. Gio Takahashi
Sonic and Knuckles game came with a 'lock on' technology, that you can put any sega cartridge game on top of it. Example: I am definitely looking forward to this. Also, if you lock on any games to Sonic and Knuckles, you will get a "NO WAY" message, and if you push A+B+C, you can access a special stage. Sonic 1 locked on allows you to access all special stages (And there were tons of them). Sonic 2 locked on lets you play as Knuckles in Sonic 2. MtnDewCodeRedFreak
I remember that game - Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the full story (14 zones!). I used to play that with Knuckles, Tails, Sonic (alone), and Sonic/Tails. Yawn - piece of cake. And, yes I know how to get the Chaos Emeralds and the Super Emeralds, along with 99 lives and 14 or more continues. I also knew of a way on how to get up to 255 lives and the score of 9,999,990. (Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles, and Super Tails FTW!) And also I know how to get into the Debug/Level Select mode in Sonic 1, 2, and 3. I don't like Sonic 1 because of no spin dash. You what :o Oh Sethos  I wish Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 would come to XBLA... Those were my favourite dreamcast games Sonic Adventure 1 at least, the 2nd was (N) (Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles, and Super Tails FTW!)And also I know how to get into the Debug/Level Select mode in Sonic 1, 2, and 3. I don't like Sonic 1 because of no spin dash. Don't you mean Super Sonic? I remember I accidentally got into debug mode in Sonic 3 and was confused as hell as to why I could spawn the power ups whenever I wanted. I didn't want to turn my MegaDrive off thinking it was a random glitch  And yeah, I love Sonic 1, but it's just not the same without spin dash.
