Vice
No not out of the box. You will need to install some kexts to get it working.
richardsim7
Oh ok, but I can install those kexts during install so it'll work by the time it reaches the desktop? ^_^ -Rich-
Vice
Yes you should be able to if your using Boot 132. You can also boot in to the desktop without having the kexts and then install them there also you just wont have hardware acceleration via the GPU until you do so and I believe your resolution may be limited as-well until they are installed. Pretty much the same behaviour that Windows has until you install graphics drivers.

richardsim7
Is it better to get the 1333mhz RAM or the 1600mhz? I heard 1333 was better because it's the same as the CPU? :s -Rich-

ZakO
For ?5 extra (?115) you can get the 216 Core 55nm version of the GTX 260, if your order hasn't been dispatched yet that might be worth changing to (there's only 5-8% difference in performance but for ?5 you may as well get the newer versi:p :p). richardsim7
You're telling me! I installed Windows 7 so I could FINALLY play some games again (booting into windows on a MBP just wasn't enough POWAR) and HOLY **** :D You can't measure how fast things happen, everything you do is in less than a second! Same goes for OS X! FPS in games were silky smooth ^_^ Once I get everything working perfectly I'll make a review/guide thing for those who wanna do something similar :) -Rich-
Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 Congrats richardsim7! That looks a pretty awesome build :D Is it easy to dual boot Windows 7 and OS X? I have Windows Vista installed on C, and 7 on D, and I'm wanting to format the Vista partition and install OSx86 on that. Is that easy to do? richardsim7
Yup it's pretty easy :) Is all your hardware compatible?? Edited July 20, 2009 by giga Guides to circumvention
Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) Yup it's pretty easy :)Is all your hardware compatible?? Yeah, it's compatible. Thanks, I didn't see those dual boot guides. Even though the first guide recommends installing OS X on another hard drive, I'll use my Vista partition instead, as it's easier for me, and then install to my other hard drive, if needs be. richardsim7
Yeah I'd recommend that too, especially if you install Adobe products.. What's your spec? :) -Rich-
Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 By the way, I edited my post, as I changed my mind. I'll give it a try installing on my Vista partition, as it's easier for me, but I'll install it on my other hard drive, if need be. My specs are very low compared to yours :p Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 ASUS P5K WD 500GB, WD 1TB Corsair DDR2 2GB RAM (I've been meaning to upgrade that) I'm not really intending OS X to be anything other than a test, really. I just want to get it working, like I managed to do with Tiger, a few years ago. The closest I got to running Leopard was running it very slowly on VMWare (on the PC I'm going to install it on now). richardsim7
Hehe, cool :) Yeah I think most things are very low compared to mine now :D -Rich-
Steeley
richard, did you use a weaksauce guide or anything similar? Or was it one of the links you posted? Is everything working for you? Shut down, standby, all your cards?
richardsim7
Not yet... I followed Digital_dreamer's guide but it looks like I'm going to have to make a couple of tweaks to get everything working. I'll post a full story when it's done, sadly I can't do anything at the moment because I'm at work :( -Rich-
