Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 I just tried installing and when it finished it restarted, but on rebooting it gave me this thing - http://media.photobucket.com/image/ideneb%...rd/DSC_4170.jpg So I'm reinstalling with different settings. What settings/drivers did you install when in the Customize section of setup, richardsim7?

Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) Well to be honest Photoshop on OS X is very similar to Photoshop on Windows ;)Remember to check compatibility :) lcg: Interesting... which guide ya going for? -Rich- My second install worked - I knew I chose the wrong Chipset driver in the first install :p After this, I've got to work out how I can set up a bootloader to boot between Leopard and Windows 7. Max Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 I tried the hackintosh as well, as I also have a EX58-UD5. Although it was super fast, I felt 'dirty' that it wasn't a Mac. Also the audio input was screwed so I couldn't plug my guitar in.

Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 Apologies giga. I haven't been too aware of the rules since they changed some time ago. Sorry for that.

richardsim7
According to the dude who wrote the guide I followed my problem looks to be a graphics card issue so all I gotta do is boot in safe mode and install some :D -Rich-
Kondrath
I just installed Leopard on my machine the other day. It's okay so far, but I can't get my audio working. None of the kexts I try seem to work. I did manage to get the front headphone port working, but that's about it. Running the EX58-UD3R...
richardsim7
Try get the kext from Digital_dreamer's guide to installing retail on UD5 boards ;) -Rich-
Lee G. Veteran Posted July 20, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 20, 2009 I think mine's fully up and running. In the end I reinstalled it onto my second hard drive, as it screwed up the bootloader when I installed it on the same hard drive as Windows 7, and I couldn't find a way to fix that. Everything worked apart from the audio, but I've just got that working :p

I'm building a very similar system today. Weaksauce has a guide to install OSX on that motherboard. I'm using an E7600, 4GB RAM and a 9800GT...other than that we'll have the same machine. I'll make a post when it's done if you like. Linking to guides discussing installs that are pirated is strictly forbidden. That is warez and you many of you should know that by now. Thread cleaned. I bought a retail version of leopard for mine. It sucks that Apple don't offer a student discount for it. Kondrath
Try get the kext from Digital_dreamer's guide to installing retail on UD5 boards ;)-Rich- Yeah, I used DD's script to get my entire install working, but none of the included audio kext worked for me. I may have configured something wrong, but I'm not sure. Maybe I have to remove some audio kexts from s/l/e folder... Also, my video card is kinda' weird. It installed automatically and the resolution looks good (including the mac version of "aero", I forget what it's called...), but the quality in general is really grainy. In fact, the grain moves. I can see the pixels moving... Maybe that's just how macs are? lol... I've asked for help a bunch of times in his thread, but everyone ignores my problem. I've also tried the Sound boards of insanely mac, but no replies. Ah well.
ThehAWKs
If you ever ask for help on the insanelymac website or irc room and no one helps you it's because they don't like newcomers and all the info on how to do everything is there if you look. It's good to see this kind of talk on neowin

It's good to see this kind of talk on neowin Can you write a guide on how you installed Leopard with your EVGA mobo? I have the same mobo and I have tried everything and none of the Boot-132 disks don't work. I have even got a lot of help from the irc room and still no go. :p

ultimate99
Seriously, I didn't see any warez talk here, nor anyone pirating OS X. This could easily be done with a retail OS X. :sleep2:
