REM2000
Final Fantasy VIII, there are so many WOW moments in that game, the story is amazing. Bioshock and Fallout, both had some great cut scenes and wow moments. COD:MW2, the whole game had me in a trance there were so many excellent twists to the story and interaction, it reminded me of 24 (The tv show not the game) Zelda III A Link to the past, the ending was amazing, i couldn't believe it had finished at first, but i loved the ending as it wrapped the story up. pwnz0r3d
Old: The music in Blaster Master. 8-bit composition at it's best. I've totally forgot what the game was about, but the music is still in my head. New: The boss in zero space gravity in Dead Space. I'd gotten bored with the whole game to this point, but this level put me back in my seat. Excellent.

Lathanielt
Ah, the epic Dragon Age. Massive game and the ambushes while moving from one location to the next. And silly me for not stocking potions. Made for some brilliant skirmishes. I love that game...
Minifig
What are you going on about? He's talking about the blinding effect as you step outside from the vault to the outside world, only to be exposed to an incredibly devastating view of the world as it is now. Not just simple HDR / bloom in general.Since you probably haven't played the game, here's a glimpse of what we're talking about: (better when seen in game of course) You should see that effect in Oblivion, it's the exact same effect, only done much, much, much, much better because Oblivion is .. greener.. and more colorful. It's wonderful. Oblivion was also done first.

That blinding effect is exactly what HDR and bloom is in games, they only turned it up really high at that sequence in F3 :s Edited January 11, 2010 by Huleboeren

neoadorable
yeah, sometime in October when it dawned on me months and months of low-income subsistance courtesy the brave new world economy have totally ungamered me. That was a real "wow" moment after three whole decades. But hopefully thing'll get better soon. Maybe just in time for Bioshock 2/Mass Effect 2 and a bunch of other sequels. Mother****ers! I thought most opponents go "wtf go learn a real class u one-tactic nub" or similar after losing in a Street Fighter game. Granted, that is also a compliment, albeit an unintended one. Massiveterra
I'd like to add a recent moment... In Mass Effect 2 right at the beginning of the game when you have to save Joker, you see the roof of the Normandy blown off and stare off into space. That was like wowowowowow! mr.biomech
A long long time ago... Seeing and actually allowed to play F1 Circuit on a PC (can't even remember if that was it's real name... in any case a F1 racing game from the late 80's/early 90's). The first time seeing Super Mario Bros 2 and Duck Hunt played with a couple of other NES games that I don't remember anymore in a theme park. Starting up The Secret of the Monkey Island for the first time and realizing that it did actually run on my 286 with EGA-monitor \o/ (after the disappointment of not being able to play The Last Crusade) One Must Fall 2097 with the music. Tomb Raider with the brand new 3Dfx card. First time shooting a rocket launcher into a barn in X-COM: UFO Defense. and there have been many more... these just popped into my head when the wave of nostalgia struck
Hedon
My first real WOW moment was when my wife and I were taking turns playing UNO online on the Xbox 360. A gamer was having sex on the Xbox Live vision cam while playing UNO at the same time.
Singh400
In Bioshock #1. When you find out that Atlas is actually Frank Fontaine and he has conditioned you to respong to key phrases, as well as being orginally born in Rapture, and being genetically modified . That was just a WOW feeling. Never felt anything like it. The other one (sort of) is back at high school, and where everyone used to play Quake II over the LAN. I was completed addicted and became the second best in the school (the school techy was #1) anyway, it got to a stage where people used to either stand still or try to run away. God how I miss those days. Of course I am out of practice now, and recently recovered from a massive addiction to ET:QW :D (where I was also fairly good, at my best, but my god I was terrible when I first started). Looking to get back into the game when Brink comes along.

justmike
Well, those moments would mostly be from the game I've finally given up, WoW. Moment number one, while tanking a 10 man raid my power goes out. So while my fingers were flailing the keyboard as usual, I'm trying to figure out how much time I have until my UPS dies, and if I want to waste any in-game mats because we may wipe anyway. At the same time everyone is laughing because they can hear the UPS beeping every time I hit the talk key in Vent. The power does go out, so I use the phone (it worked), and called my friend who was in the raid, and told him I had been DC'd. He said that I was still standing there doing nothing, and the healers were healing me like crazy (he was a H.Pally). His speakers were on, so I had him tell everyone to stop DPS and for Him to pop all the big stuff and get aggro if anyone comes close to passing me. Just as he got done telling everyone what was up, I got power back. So I started the PC, started logging in, got logged in and used every mat I had, my JC item, and Last Stand (they were all on multi-click macros), I hit my DPS gear key for two 1handers and whirlwind and hit my DPS macro (yes MT's could DPS even back then, and even in Prot Spec, extra STR, and I was Human) then I hit my Prot aggro gear (better shield for aggro, and heroics) used my threat macro, got aggro back, and we downed the boss with only one death. My friend on the phone was the only one who died, he had just gotten aggro as I was logging into the game. So I popped out my engineering jumper cables that mostly never worked, and they actually worked! Thanks to my friend Theroldes, and a guild that sometimes knew what we were doing. Not even the Omorc on his laptop in the bathtub, and the tornado run could compare. I have lots of great true stories about our once crazy guild, but that one was the best. Vice
Quite a recent one for me. The moment I walked in to the club 'Afterlife' in Mass Effect 2. I had my 5.1 surround sound headset on and the music in the club was awesome and the way it swept over the player as the doors to the club opened. Just a 'wow..' moment :)
