MGS Peace Walker is a MGS5 class game

Recommended Posts

Konami has published a Q&A session with Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima, head of Kojima Productions, revealing new info on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the PSP exclusive set for release in 2010."I actually had the plan for this project in mind while working on Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops," said Kojima. "Back then, I intended to place the project in the hands of the next generation of creators at Kojima Productions. However, in the end, I felt that it was still a little too early to leave it completely in their hands, so I decided to take the reins."

With the main man at the helm we can expect a fully-fledged Metal Gear Solid experience, one that should be considered in the same light as Metal Gear Solid 5 would be.

"This game is an MGS5-class game," Kojima explained. "I am supervising, designing, producing, directing, and editing this title together with the MGS4 team. Therefore in that sense, "Metal Gear Solild" has not ended, and the "Metal gear saga" continues."

He added: "In regards to the quality of the game, the main staff of MGS4 are producing it. They are aiming for PS3 quality because they were creating MGS4 on the PS3 not too long ago. In reality it is hard to maintain the same quality as the PS3 but we strive for it and we are expressing this in ways only we can express it in."

While Kojima says he can't reveal all that much info on the title, he did say that the team is "implementing features that can only be realised on the PSP platform", features he says everyone should look forward to. Box fans are also in for a treat - Kojima says the game will feature a variety of different cardboard boxes.

You'll also be able to customise Snake according to your preferences and determine what kind of soldier you will be prior to embarking on a mission. There's heavy gear configurations that make a lot of noise, but that allow you to equip numerous weapons. Or, there are other configurations that won't allow you to carry many weapons, but will make Snake lighter on his feet. The game will also incorporate a growth feature, which will see the player's character evolve.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is scheduled for release in 2010 only for PSP.

seriously though, how are they going to cram enough stuff on a single disc?

makes me think they should require installs and use 2-3 UMDs :p

Don't you know that you don't ask that when you're dealing with Sony hardware? You can only use that argument when talking about Microsoft! Please don't make that mistake in the future... :p

Er...no. That discussion is about the PS3 and Xbox 360 because of the Blu-ray vs DVD argument.

This is completely different.

But thanks for your input ;)

Someone didn't get it

Maybe, but would have been more expensive to make.

Besides, PS3 is already getting MGS5.

5 won't be as good as Peace Walker.

Kojima pretty much flat out said that when he announced.

Kojima E3 summery: 'I don't give a crap about 5 but I will be working hard on this new PSP one. here, watch.'

Umm... yeah. Blu-Ray vs DVD is a big "go Sony" argument but Blu-Ray vs UMD is "Well, it's OK on 1.8Gb" :/ Double standard?

What are you on about?

In terms of portable storage UMD is vastly superior to it's only portable competitor, Nintendos Flash Carts which only go up to 512mb.

For arguments sake anyway, if a game needed to be over 1.2GB now Sony could just digitally distribute it. It would mean no UMD release, but that's the way they're going anyway.

Kaz said GTPSP is aiming to be under 1GB and it has 800 cars in it, these are "low texture" games, they don't need lots and lots of space. Look at MGS1 on the Playstation, it was 2 discs, 1.2GB, considering improvements in game development and some improvement in compression, why would a MGS PSP not fit into 1.2GB? In fact MGS1 is on the PSP store, and it's smaller than 2 discs due to how Sony can compress PS1 games.

You're just proving my point. If 1.8Gb is good enough, 8.5Gb should be even better. But never mind. I didn't mean to derail this topic. It's just interesting how things are looked at from certain angles by certain people...

Why are you comparing portable games to console games?

Did someone tell you the resolution PSP games run at is the same as the PS3/360 or something?

No offence Ironman but as you explained your initial joke it's turned into the daftest comparison I've seen in a while.

Holy crap!! What the hell happened here. GH and its subforums is turning into "take every joke seriously and argue nastily about it." The subtitle of this topic, which you wrote, says they are aiming for PS3 quality. Hence the tongue in cheek remark. Relax.

Uhhh did you miss the party here? Everyone getting a free reign to go "Audioboxer you're a fanboy" for 3 pages :p

No offence Ironman but it genuinely would be nice if nearly every topic posted in the GH didn't have some offtopic regurgitated joke 2~3 posts in. These are decent topics with discussable content, too often someone tries to post the "harmless joke" card which ends up in an argument as I think everyone around here is fed up seeing some 2006 era fanboy incident re-quoted "for the lulz" in an unrelated topic. It gets tiresome to see it in nearly every thread.

It's no secret where your preferences lie, as much as it is where mine or others lie. However, in the past you've generally been very reasonable and have been able to laugh at both sides of the argument. Lately you seem to have gotten a lot more serious and biting than previously. As you may or may not have noticed, I don't comment as much as I used to, particularly in GH. I guess since I'm not as active it seems like a bigger change.

Put it this way, the Sony section on NW is the laughing stock of the GH. There's little to no community, what community it has is fueled by me punting a ton of topics at the section that get replies after 2 minutes of lovely recycled E32006 jokes, that do nothing useful at all. Whether it's done to try and genuinely be funny or not, the Sony section just doesn't have the larger community the MS section does, and it makes it even harder to try and scrape something together in here when some of the most active posters have made their preferences known to everyone and don't actually want to take part in a genuine PS3 community (as in playing games together and what not), just post jokes.

Trying to get people together in here to play something is like trying to get into your house at 4am drunk and not make a noise. Just recently I was approved on NeoGAF, while that board has tons of arguing, in the official topics when it comes to it you can get a game with people like that, there's clans, there's genuine communities in amongst all the crap for each platform. This probably explains my edgyness. I love the NW community, but on NeoGAF all the work is done (people on there actually post topics faster than me lol), and you can genuinely talk to people about a game, rather than it's score, how much it's sold and all that dross - In the official topics anyway, NeoGAF in general has worse sales age topics than Neowin by far.

The NW GH community is more in favour of MS/360, which there is absolutely nothing wrong with, but you guys need to cut the Sony section some slack at times, most of the time most topics in here are pointless arguments. The official KZ2 topic is like 80 pages, but I think within the KZ2 clan like 5 games might of been played. Half the KZ2 topic is pointless arguing.

I know you guys must be able to admit a bit at times you'd probably be best ignoring this section for a while and just see if it can actually spur a community of some sorts. I know some of you have very little intentions in using your PS3s, yet if you do look at the section you've posted in most, it's this section  PSN isn't as good as Live for community play, but if people want to play together on PSN it's not that hard to in most games.

Here's hoping Sony cut the ****ing price and more people buy PS3s  Then they release firmware 3.0 with cross game voice chat and make things easier for us.

AB, I enjoy your threads. Even if they are overrun by individuals who have no interest in those threads and thus have no business being there.

I get my gaming news from directly from you. (Even if it's just you linking or quoting. The gathering of info is much appreciated.) I'm sure others feel the same way.

Yep you are not the only one. I don't visit a lot of gaming sites. Joystick and Kotaku and just like 2 times a day. I usually get me news here on the forums.

A better argument would have been when MS talk about digital distribution and all the BR/Sony fans say it will never take off, yet it's the only route the PSPGo will use.

Irony!
