Gio Takahashi
I highly doubt that every single sub build gets leaked, but we'll know in the next couple of weeks when the RTM gets distributed. Good things happen to those who waits, yeah?
Pikey
It gives them a week or so to polish it up a bit if they feel they need to .. there's bound to be a new sub-build no. I would have thought .. new date code too.

There's only 2 weeks until it will undoubtedly leak from Technet/MSDN subscribers.
Ekhaatvensters
Okay guys so this thread sucks, I can't get anything about the RTM out of it anymore. :( Can anyone find any other links or verifications of this pic: <link snipped> Replace the "7" with a "v" as Neowin seem to have some idiotic filter on. It puts the RTM date for OEM's at July 24th, however this date has been rumored before for a while, so it's the most likely date to try and fake. It would also mean that according to MS's latest posting the RTM should be announced today if OEMs are getting it "2 days after official RTM announcement." posted this in another thread i know, but that one seems to be getting very little attention. Sorry.. Edited July 22, 2009 by John S. that idiotic filter is there for a reason

iamwhoiam
Actually the kernel version is 6.1. Microsoft has unfortunately been very unclear about this, saying different things at different times.Let me simplify. Because Windows 7's kernel has had only minor modifications over Vista's kernel 6.0 and nothing drastic enough to cause compatibility issues, the Windows Team programmers have designated the kernel as 6.1. You might want to refer to this quote.... Mike Nash, Corporate VP of Windows Product Management:So we decided to ship the Windows 7 code as Windows 6.1 - which is what you will see in the actual version of the product in cmd.exe or computer properties. There's been some fodder about whether using 6.1 in the code is an indicator of the relevance of Windows 7. It is not. Windows 7 is a significant and evolutionary advancement of the client operating system. It is in every way a major effort in design, engineering, and innovation. The only thing to read into the code versioning is that we are absolutely committed to making sure application compatibility is optimized for our customers. Argi
Why? Who says? I very much doubt it will be! Well just because you did... Seriously, it's been said countless times already in this thread - don't consider any build RTM until it's actually official.
Chris89
The RTM build on friday will be another build number then 7600.16385. The final build was completed (this week) said a MSFT developer to me.
NightmarE D
Why? Who says? I very much doubt it will be! You do realize that even if it's build number goes to 16386, it could still actually be the 16385 build, right? It happened when Vista hit RTM. The RTM build that leaked right before the final build was 16385. This was the build that was given to reviewers about a week before it was announced as final. The only difference in the actual final build was the build number going up one to 16386. Since there hasn't been anymore leaks or much news at all about other builds, it looks like they'll do the same thing. Just bump the build number up one and call it final. And why are soo many people freaking out because of the August 6th date? Even if you're actually going to buy it, you people freaking out should know very well it will hit the internet sooner than that. If they announce that it's done today, it could leak 30 minutes after the announcement  Then just do what most people will do. Download it and use the evaluation period until you get your legit key. Edited July 22, 2009 by NightmarE D
Raa
The final build was completed (this week) said a MSFT developer to me. Yeah? Bill Gates told me last week that Windows 7 was being cancelled. I wonder who to believe  It'll be done when it's done. And officially announced. Either way, August 6th is the date i'm watching! Innuendo
Sounds like you don't know your Windows OS history either, Microsoft always tries to release an OS every 3 Years (Windows Vista 2006 - Windows 7 2009) It's always been every two or three years between releases except for when Vista was released. I'm not sure what your point is when the person I was replying to was stating that there was no way a major version of NT could be released within two years of the last release & I proved them wrong. Thanks for looking up all those dates, Gio.
