Tharp Daddy
After centuries of conflict and hardship across the lands of Valoran, the Rune Wars have finally come to an end. Treaties have been signed, and the superpowers that once ravaged this land have turned to a new role. Realizing that there must be a better way to settle their differences, they created the Institute of War, a multinational governing body that would settle all disputes. Inside the Institute is the League of Legends-where powerful magic users and delegates from each of the realms vie with or against each other to rule the land.League of Legends is a competitive online game set in an imaginative world. Gamers take the role of a powerful Summoner, calling forth and controlling brave Champions in battle. League of Legends combines the best elements of session-based games with persistent elements of MMORPG's. Enter the Fields of Justice with your most trusted allies as you fight for your right to rule the world of Valoran. There is only one rule of law among those in the league: Winner rules all. This game is pretty much a full retail version of DoTA, the beta reviews so far have been outstanding, i just got into the beta but the beta servers are only online at certain times, anyone else interested in this game? trag3dy
I think it looks interesting and fun, but I don't know how much I'd be willing to pay for it. I love the amount of different characters they have with different play styles for each. I think that'll make for some good game play. Oh...looks like the game will be free to play but have micro transactions, not sure how I feel about that. If done correctly it could work well...if not it could ruin the game quickly. http://forums.leagueoflegends.com/board/sh...read.php?t=7298
Tharp Daddy
ATM they are reaching for free to play, with a cash shop offering different skins and stuff, nothing game altering though.
trag3dy
Interesting Q&A here, it took place on the 17th so I believe most of the answers are still relevant. http://forums.leagueoflegends.com/board/sh...read.php?t=7423 I might think about pre-ordering the collectors edition. I'll have to see more gameplay screens and videos first though. ^^ My 1000th post.
LOC Veteran Posted July 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 21, 2009 Just so you guys know, League of Legends is being made by the guy who made Dota: Allstars. :)
trag3dy
I've never played Dota. This looks fun, and the fact that it's free to play makes it even more appealing.
LOC Veteran Posted July 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted July 21, 2009 You guys should also check out Heroes of Newerth. It's by the guys who made Savage 1 and 2 and S2 Games got permission from Icefrog (the guy who currently updates and makes Dota) to make the game as it's pretty much a dot for dot redo of Dota just with the Savage 2 engine and better graphics. http://heroesofnewerth.com/
SMELTN
2 things I have to say... #1 is I love saying the shortened version of League of Legends. Hey man you play LoL? lol #2 is, WOW at all the free games out/coming out. That is awesome. I mean we have a TON of variety now and choice. The problem I foresee is, good content. The market is going to be over saturated with f2p games before to long, and we aren't going to have a bunch of really good games, but instead a bunch of bleh games that have no context and feeling.
