A question about Assassin's Creed

Recommended Posts

A rather unusual question, but it's been bugging me. I've kept reviewing the scene on YouTube and I still don't catch any dialogue that fully explains it. I'll try not to put huge spoilers.

As you should know, Assassin's Creed represents health as "synchronization", or how much the gameplay matches the main character's actual memory of the event. When the player gets hurt or dies, synchronization is affected because the main character (Altair) is never actually hurt or never dies during the segment of history the game portrays.

So during the last moments of the final fight, why is it that the players synchronization suddenly gets dropped down to 1? What part of the gameplay during that moment would not correspond at all to Altair's memory?

Did he suddenly forget everything that happened during the moment (if he did, why would that memory block even exist?)

It is obvious that the memory actually happened, or it wouldn't be able to be played.

I heard the final boss say something about "blindness." I don't see how that would be applicable, as the illusion of blindness would still perfectly correspond to the blindness in Altair's memory. It also brings up a second question of how Altair's blade could've cut through the blindness.

Lastly, the final boss fight is very well an illusion caused by the piece of eden. But the illusion seems to be preserved very well in memory (or, again, I wouldn't be able to view it), so synchronization should still be kept intact.

I guess the best explanation is that "because the designers at Ubisoft wanted the final fight to feel tense" but that doesn't make as much sense as I'd like.

I feel that when your synchronization dropped in the end, it was a kinda.. huge shock to Altair's mind at that moment, i haven't played it in a bit, but didn't you break away from his normal memories at that point? Altered it in some way - i don't fully remember but you bring up a good point. It was prob just to show that what was happening was huge, and a shocking moment, so much that it kinda.. was so huge it ****ed up the Animus some, that was transcending the normal limits that were happening, with him bringing back a few people and such. What i just said what probably garbled up, hard to get my point across.
