[OSx86]dual boot

Recommended Posts

hi there.ok here is my doubt:

i have 2 hdd:hdd0 and hdd1

hdd0 is partitioned in two parts :one for windows 7 ,the other for storage

hdd1 is partioned in two parts :one for mac os x, other for storage.

i have used Itakos v7 to install mac os x and used xiezhy bootloader, this bootloader don?t give me any chooses to boot from, except mac os x.

right now i have to go to bios and change the order of hdd to boot to windows or to boot to mac os x...it?s quite annoying.win 7 bootloader doesn?t recognise mac osx nor easybcd.

would someone give directions or advices to dual boot without having to go through all the process in bios.

thanks so much.

You must be doing something wrong with EasyBCD. I added a OSX entry with it and the Vista/7 loader successfully chainloads OSX. What exactly happens in EasyBCD?

ok...a picture worse one thousand words.

Basically windows doesn?t recognise partition where mac OS X is isntalled (disk 1 partiton 1) and so this is what happens in easybcd when i add an entry.

and when i reboot there is the mac entry but doesn?t booy when i click it ...show me some error

i?m not an expert...but there must be something simple that i?m missing in this all process...like activating mac partition, i really don?t know.

ok..here is the picture

When you install, install it with the Chameleon V1 bootloader, then the chain0 will work properly. Insert the DVD, wait for Darwin to boot up, hit ESC to boot from DVD and once in there, go to Disk Utilities format your Mac formated drive by highlighting it, and press Erase. In your boot entries, choose Chameleon 1. Chameleon 2 will be automatically selected, which doesn't always work as well. Also, make that drive larger than 10GB, 30GB is good, and make another FAT32 partition using an Ubuntu Live CD as crossover storage from Windows to OS X.
