+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 27, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted July 27, 2009 Graphics programmer Ryan Geiss posted a news blog on his website where he states: "I can finally disclose that I'm one of the core developers of the human-tracking algorithms for Project Natal (click for more info), bringing full-body motion control to the Xbox 360+" Note that last part... typo? Or did he slip up and say something he was not supposed to? Still yet, it would be a rather unlikely typo to make considering you have to hold shift down for a +. This would mean that the new Xbox 360, rumored to come bundled with Project Natal and possible 1TB HDD SKUs would be called Xbox 360+ or "plus". Ryan Geiss is currently at Microsoft as a full-time programmer, working on some next-gen console projects as well as Project Natal. Xbox Evolved has contacted Ryan about this and will post an update once (or if) we get a response about this. Source: http://xboxevolved.e-mpire.com/article/Pro...Natal/5659.html lol @ the 1TB hard drive nonsense again, but this could relate to a new model for this fall. Wouldn't surprise me to see something with a bigger hard drive launching at a price cut if Sony release a $299 120GB Slim. Quite a meal made from putting a plus sign, but you do wonder why he done it... Maybe he meant to put Xbox 360+PC? :p As we know Natal is coming to the PC. Browno
Would be nice to see a bigger HDD model, not yet ready for a new console, maybe if I get RROD in the next year and a half and this comes out, it may be an investment to me, but no need for a direct upgrade with out reason. coresx
Not surprised. It will be a smaller redesigned 360 packaged with the Natal add on. Ultimate relaunch with fresh looking hardware which will sky rocket demand. It will give the 360 a great push forward for it's last years and save MS money. It's so obvious. The 1TB hard drive is complete rubbish. We won't be seeing it this year.

coresx
Cool. Bit of overkill for the current Xbox even if they go mental with On Demand stuff. Pointless till next gen. I could see bigger than 120GB though.
Sethos
Sounds like FUD to me. Personally I believe Microsoft are comfortable with the current selection and won't start introducing any 'new' units into their range except revision updates and bundles. 1TB ... lawl. Whilst an Xbox 360 1TB hard drive would probably cost about $1300 lol. (calculation: RRP for 120GB 360 hdd is $160, therefore $1.33 per GB, therefore $1333 for 1000GB) Jumping from 120GB to 1TB is an outlandish prediction anyway. George P Global Moderator Posted July 27, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted July 27, 2009 If they go far enough to boudle Natal in with a new 360 SKU they might as well take the extra step and come out with a bigger HDD. No signs of it yet, just the 1TB rumor, but I'm betting for a 250-300GB HDD at some point. Maybe the holidays will bring some nice surprises. As for a slimmer/smaller redesigned 360, that would be nice, but I dunno. the DVD drive is what takes up most of the space followed by the HSF. Going down to 45nm and putting the GPU and CPU on the same die helps alot, switching to a slot-drive DVD could also help, something laptops use today. Lots of things are possible, but while a redesign would save you money, it will cost you at first in new R&D.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted July 27, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 27, 2009 Yesterday Xbox Evolved brought new light on a new Xbox 360 model rumored to be incoming under the name of Xbox 360+ or ?plus? coming from programmer Ryan Geiss. We had contacted Ryan about the matter of that plus symbol and if it could have possibly just been a big mistake. When we tried to contact Mr. Geiss via his site to clear this up, something curious happened; we got a reply, but not from Ryan. This is what it said: [qu?He uses standard keyboard which have numeric keys on the right so typing 360+ could have been a mistake although this time you are right. X360+ is true. + is to show consumers that this X is something more than just a console << Something like that will be posted by Microsoft PR due time. (Probably on twitter since that will be more of a "personal" message). Also it will not have 1TB ;)ive ;)?)? While not an official confirmation, it is indeed very supportive of the rumor, so you can take a few less grains of salt with this one. What remain unanswered is the date, exact features, and a price point. We do at least know that it will not come with the rumored 1TB hard drive, a move which is likely to keep costs within the range of the casual consumers the Xbox 360+ is trying to target. What?s also something to look at is the statement more than just a console console. That gives reason to believe that the Xbox 360+ will probably have a more media centered approach. Could Microsoft be adding an internal blu-ray drive? It can also be assumed that a dashboard update could come along with the SKU, which would feature a more streamlined setup making it easier to control with gestures. We?ll post more information on the Xbox 360+ as we get it. Source: http://xboxevolved.e-mpire.com/article/Pro...Natal/5663.html Up to you to decide whether or not xboxevolved are talking our their arses. They've gone from it could be a 1TB drive to an internal BR drive now...
AltecXP
1TB is possible, as WD just came out with a 1TB drive for its Passport, also maybe they are moving to a dual 500GB setup. With 1080p and the ability to save games from their disks to the drive space will be in high demand if you add in other media that will be on it. Kushan
the 1TB HDD isn't happening, it'd cost as much as the 360 itself and is completely unnecessary. You're more likely to see a 250GB drive. As for this "360+" thing, I'm willing to bet he meant "for the 360 and beyond" rather than "for some unannounced product".
sn00pie
Xbox+ sounds pretty good to me. As for those who want a 1TB 360 dream on. I'd be shocked to see anything bigger than 250GB.
George P Global Moderator Posted July 28, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted July 28, 2009 I don't see why more than 250GB wouldn't be possible? 300GB or more 2.5" don't cost loads of money either. And since MS would be buying in huge bulk, the price will be even lower.
Kushan
To be honest, it's not really necessary. On a 120Gb drive, you could easily buy/install about 10 360 games with plenty of space to spare. MOST people wont own that many games and the content for said games (DLC) isn't that large most of the time. I think the biggest we've seen is maybe a GB or two. 250Gb is overkill for 99.9% of users and the market for that 0.1% is hardly big enough for MS to care. Sure, that may be the case if we're just looking at games. But games are just one part, with more movies/tv series and music going up in time other things will fill up that space as well. While 120GB could be and might be enough for the majority of 360 owners, MS should drop it's price regardless. And in doing so, releasing a bigger one, 250GB or more w/e, wouldn't hurt. It could be a limited time thing to start with so MS could see how demand goes as well. I'd love to see the 120GB drop to $100 and less soon. I think $80 for it would be the sweet spot, then all the arcade owners could get it easy, just a bit more than the cost of a new game makes sense. Kushan
From what we can tell, Microsoft is shifting the downloadable movies to streamable ones from the Zune Video Marketplace. I don't know if they're going to keep the two services side-by-side but it seems a little redundant to me.

I don't see why they'd take the option out for having you be able to buy the movie/tv sereis like you can now as well as stream it if you want? The two marketplaces will merge yeah, but why take away the option to actually download the content if you want to for a bit more?
