Cowabunga! Bodacious! Other TMNT saying! Pardon the hoopla, but Ubisoft has confirmed to Joystiq that next week's XBLA "Summer of Arcade" release, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, will debut at 800 ($10), 400 ($5) less than the originally announced 1200 ($15) price.

"We wanted to give something to the loyal TMNT fans in honor of the 25th anniversary," Ubisoft responded when asked about the last-minute change. Then again, dare we really question the generosity of a mega-publisher when it actually want us to shell out less for its games? (Oh, and for those eyeing the 800 [$10] rebate from MS for buying everything in the Summer of Arcade lineup? Well, it just got $5 cheaper to buy "everything.")

I was going to buy it anyway but this has made me buy it quicker :p

Mathachew, it is one of the great side scrolling beat em ups ever made.

I may end up getting this then!

I'd be buying it, but when I found out it doesn't have the additional stages like Prehistoric Turtlesaurus, Skull and Crossbones, Bury My Shell at Wounded Knee, Neon Night-Riders, Starbase, and the second Technodrome.

That alone makes it not worth it for me.

+1

800 points is a bargain I was playing the original on MAME the other day I miss these style of games now. We need more games like Castle Crashers.

I would love to see Alien Vs Predator Arcade released on XBL or PSN. I would pay for that for sure.

Yes it does spacer. Now there are no doubts I will be buying this. I'm really glad they went back to the original price.

Finally a publisher has some sense and realizes $15 for XBLA is a little pricey.

Where did you read that? I've seen screenshots of the Skull and Crossbones level, so I find this doubtful.

Well they've just gained themselves a sale. I wasn't going to buy it @ 1200 as I've set my max I'm willing to spend for these kinds of games @ 800.

Anyone disappointed by the demo? It doesn't feel anything like the original game. Wasn't fun at all.

Yup, that was the feeling I got as well.

So glad I didn't blind buy.

Gave the demo a whirl, and promptly deleted it once it ended. I never felt the original was anything special either, and I was a huge fan of the Turtles back in the day.

I honestly never got why this was so high on so many peoples favorite older games. Is it because of the 4 player aspect? Because IMHO the game-play is not really all that special by any means, so just trying to figure out why people do have such fond memories of the game itself.

Double Dragon would have been a better representative of this Side-Scrolling-Beat-Em-Up genre I believe (but it is only 2 player).

I love it :) I've spend hours playing it already.

I do agree that Double Dragon would kick ass though.

I just happened to be at my friends house at 4:30 in the morning when he purchased it. I can't believe I wasted my time playing through four stages of that game before I decided to leave. All you do is spam one button to attack because the special attack is utterly useless. Fighting the enemies, bosses included, is like fighting a punching bag and you never know when it's going to swing back and punch you. Not only that, but I swear my ears were going to bleed if I continued to listen to them complain about their toes any longer. I'm glad it was him that bought the game and not me.
