NoLiMiT06
Hey guys I am looking into buying a new 360 next week, I have had my current one since 2006 and I think it's time to update to the latest chip set and dvd-rom. I have sent my current 360 in 3 times, one for RROD and the other 2 for disc drive issues and the same issues keep coming back and I am tired of sending it off. So I guess what I am looking from you guys are what should I be looking for when I got to purchase a new one? I am getting the Arcade since I already have a HDD, I just need to know what lot dates etc I should look for. I am getting it at Gamestop, do you think it is worth trading in my old one or post it on eBay? Thanks in advance for any tips! :)
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted August 4, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 4, 2009 A lot date older that 0841 is a Jasper, which is the newest revision of the 360. Comes most likely with a Lite-on drive and 254mb built in memory. The usual HDMI, wireless controller etc included, and if you're lucky it might be bundled with games. NoLiMiT06
Nice, hopefully they let me get the one I want. :D
Sikh
You should trade it in if you dont want it. We also should have a promotion going for extra $25 credit towards a new system but dont hold me to that. I dont know if its still going. Last time I worked(saturday) it was. Its just a trade in a system for a new one you get the credit. But deffently trade it in if you dont wanna send it in. Since youve sent it in 3 times, if you send it in ONCE more youll get a new system. Your gurranteed it basically. hell they even have an option for 3 rrod'ers. They overnight you a box and then you send it in and in about 2 days you get a system replacement which is not your systme anymore. Ive helped a few customers and friends do this and they got a brand new system.. All new serial number. I know its a new system you can tell. But anyway try that or trade it in for 80 + possible extra with promotions and we always have promotions going on.
NoLiMiT06
Just called them actually and they said I would get like $50 for it and they want my hard drive.... I bet I would find someone on here that would pay more, let me know if you hear of any promotions anytime soon because I am going to do it next Thursday when I get off work. metal_dragen Veteran Posted August 5, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 5, 2009 I was going to suggest eBaying it, but as it will be a bare system with no HDD, no accessories, and no games, you'd probably get the best deal from GS if Sikh is right about the going rate. You could always try to eBay it or put it on Craigslist, but you'll likely only get what GS will offer at most and then you'll have to deal with shipping and all that hassle. NoLiMiT06
Just called the other store here and he said $70 is the most they give for them and they don't need the hdd, so I will prob do that. I only have a VGA cord and don't want to trade that in I wonder if they will just take the one from the new console. I guess I will just give it to GameStop :D

NoLiMiT06
Hey guys I am getting a 120gb hd from ebay as well and was wondering if I could just move my games saves from my old hdd to my new one without any issues using a memory card. The game I am most worried about is Forza 2. Unless someone wants to let me have there transfer cable :D
PiracyX
As DnM stated, Lot No 841 is the one you need in order to obtain a Jasper model. This come with 256MB internal memory. On later models from around 908 the Arcades have doubled the internal memory to 512MB. Since you have the HDD, It doesn't really matter.
Sikh
Wow. Someones not doing there job. If you look at it like this, If its a 360 w/ wireless controller you get 80 for the system and about $15-20 for 20gb hd, and $25-35 for 60gb hd. We have to take both in seperate because we send the hard drive off to get whiped and what not. Anyway, my point is, thats how much you should get if you had a full 360 as in video cables, power supply, the system and wireless controller. If its wired its $60 for system plus whatever for hd. Now look at it this way, whoever you talked to doesnt know ****. I worked today and got a wired system in and its was 60 the hd was a 20gig for $25. So the guy left with 85 store. We had 2 wireless controller system come in and the guys left with $105 store for each system. Of course they used it but you know what i mean. They all had old systems and wanted to upgrade, so they saved money. Apparently as of now, we have no good promotions besides 25% Bonus trade in for ODST, Madden and Batman. The real good promotions should be back after next week(madden week). Like the "trade 2 for 10, trade 4 for 20" etc. We also sometimes get the "extra $25 for trading in a system". so thats not 25%m it $25. People always confuse it. so I just clarify it. But anyway, I say wait about 2 weeks, if you can, and see what our promotions are. The people I work with(who have been there longer with me) say this "drought" for normal traders happens becuase of madden. After madden it gets on track and back to normal(thank god, i hate madden week lol). Anyway, let me know what you end up doing. Btw, transfering saves thru memory card should be fine, I did that for myself and it worked.
NoLiMiT06
Thanks man I appreciate your replay. The people at these GameStops around here are just stupid, I used to work at one of them about 3-4 years ago and the people I worked with are just dumb. Once I get my new HDD I am going to trade in my old HDD with the system so I should have about $80 towards a new system. Thanks :)
NoLiMiT06
I am getting it Thursday and asked the guys at GameStop if I can look at the lot number first and they said that we are not allowed to do that... Now how is that even right? I am paying for a product and I want to get the one that I want, you guys have any tips? Thanks!
GameOverRob
Just go and buy it but before you pay look down the gap at the top of the box, if they don't let you just walk away and buy elsewhere

Thanks! when i was buying my 360, i asked them to even open the box to check for the mfr date on the console itself and the place where i bought it did that. not even letting you look at the box is just plain poor service. i should however point out that i didnt buy it at GS. i believe you can always buy and if you not happy with it, you can always return it.
