Is My sig Bannable?

Not bannable, but warnable. Could you please bleep out the entire word instead of doing it the way you did?

change it ****, and its probably fine.

Your post was still against the rules ;) The entire word needs to be filtered out, not everything but the first letter. The entire word. Thanks :)

Just as a note for the future -

It's always best to consult the rules first. If the rules don't answer your question, for something that you think may possibly break the rules, please send a personal message to a moderator or supervisor, rather than posting a public thread.

If you post a public topic asking whether you are breaking the rules, you could well be breaking the rules by doing so, as you actually did in this case; so, just remember, for things like that, it is always best to send a personal message to a staff member.

As for swearing on Neowin -

Everyone, please just type the full word out, without trying to censor it yourselves. It's always best to just type the full word out with anything you think should be censored because if we deem it as offensive to some, or inappropriate, it will be censored by our filter and you can then be sure you are not breaking any rules with regards to swearing :)

Thanks :)

I don't see why we even have swear filters in the 1st place. Don't you have to be 14 to register anyway? A 14 year old can handle the f and s words. And in actuality there is nothing at all wrong with those words anyway. If you look at their history, they are only considered rude because some british ninny decided they were. Well I say **** the british ninny, they're just words and they are very expressive ones at that!!!

(Y) :) I'm glad to hear that. Hopefully more people will see that post - it'd save a fair few warnings.

Let's not bring this onto a debate about why we have certain rules, but to answer your concern - Neowin is a website for everyone. We endeavor to cater for everyone and, because of that, we have to make sure everyone will enjoy this community. Believe it or not, many people still get offended by certain swear words.

What the #$%! is with this piece of %$#- filter?

Oh wait... :p

P.S. Your sig isn't very respectful to females. I personally suggest you don't use it, but that's me.

Yep, I just type it out and let the filters do their job, or re-word my post to find other descriptive words to replace the filtered ones with.
