Yusuf M. Veteran Posted August 6, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 6, 2009 They delayed the game because of Battle.net. I'm sure the game itself is "feature-complete". Then again, the beta hasn't even started yet. That'll go on for at least 4 months.

That'll go on for at least 4 months. I always wondered what happened at games companies in these situations. Do they keep working on it or do they just leave it sitting there and don't play it, so they can enjoy it when its released in x months time? :p
revvo
Good. My Fall university semester won't be ruined by SC2. I guess I'll be constructing additional pylons in winter
Andre S. Veteran Posted August 7, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 7, 2009 It wasn't delayed, there was no release date announced. I've always been expecting it for no earlier than first half of 2010. It's nice to finally get an estimate, but that's exactly what should have been expected by gamers. It's not just Battle.net, it's also beta testing the game and making sure all the units are balanced and useful. That just takes a lot of time, and you can expect the game to be patched ad infinitum after its release.
Tharp Daddy
This game was even planned for 2009? They could never meet that, this IS blizzard after all. Take their projected release date and add a year and a half. I didn't expect this game till late 2010.
abysal
Hope they re-evaluate adding LAN support, I doubt it but, one of the reasons I won't pick they game up since I don't play multilayer on BNET.

I trust blizzard not to make a choice that will make the game bad. Give them a little trust.

Sigh, it has LAN support, you just do it through Battle.net now which means everyone who is playing will have a legit copy of the game.

Sigh.. , it will not have tcp/ip v4 or v6 local area network support. It will allow players to play locally via each logging into BNET. So multilayer requires blizzards BNET servers and an internet connection, and hopefully a router that plays nice with multiple connection to Bnet through NAT. Not only is that an inconvenience, but it creates scenarios where you will not be able to play multilayer - period.
Ryster
And this is just the freaking Terran Campaign. Do you even read the article?. The "delay" has got nothing to do with the campaign.

Right now it suports LAN, that how people played it at the euskal encounter preview, let's hope they don't strip the code off and it can be hacked somehow to play it on LAN.
