Fagutish
NDA on a invite-based, highly publicized, beta test doesn't particularly make sense in the first place. Especially this close to release. I doubt the development team would punish anyone for NDA breach. Partially because the info is positive and possibly released elsewhere and also partially because they are pretty dependent on enthusiast word of mouth as they are a fledgling company without the marketing resources to get word out there effectively. It just wouldn't be good business to silence him and tick some people off in the process.
master2k27
MC knows about my thread and your right i am only giving out known information :p Interesting. So it won't be exactly like SimCity 4 where you plop down RCI (residential, commercial, industrial) and let the simulator handle the rest. I'm sort of queasy about extreme zone micromanagement but I'm willing to give this a shot. What are your specs and hows your fps? i got a core I7 2.66 Geforce 9600 GSO 4GB of ram and the game uses 3GB of it because of memory leaks game is single core support atm so it uses 100% 1 core. and the graphics cards handles fine but when the CPU usages the fps should go up. O.G
With SimCity you had building progression with the passing of time, which was nice. There is none of this in CitiesXL, so your buildings look the same until you bulldoze them and replace them. Repetition is also an issue. The MMO aspect, which amounts to trading for resources, leads a lot to be desired. There just ain't a whole lot to it. In fact there better be things coming we have not seen yet that will make online more interesting otherwise it will be largely forgotten. We've still to hear how friendly this game will be towards community modding. That is really what will make or break this game. SC4 is ancient, yet it's downloadable content is vast and growing every day despite the games age. CitiesXL seems to be aiming its guns squarely at that group of users, to be the spiritual successor to SimCity. If they cannot please the SimCity community then this game will fade into obscurity very fast.

And I just wish that EA/Maxis would come out with SC5 one day....

Of course it isn't, however CitiesXL is the closest thing to SimCity 5 your gonna get. With EA dropping Maxis employees, don't expect anything of worth to come from them for some time, if ever. Considering what a complete failure Societies was, it's probably for the best. IMO Monte Cristo have the ball now.
