Netflix Support Not Going to PlayStation 3, Wii

Recommended Posts

Video game consoles these days do more than just play video games. In fact, with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, you can play your movie and music collections. Microsoft seems to have scored a distinct advantage over its competitors by entering into an exclusive partnership with Netflix.

Microsoft posted an update on its Xbox page detailing, "Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers, at no additional cost."

This is a clear blow to Sony and perhaps even Nintendo. There had always been questions as to why Netflix wasn't hitting the PlayStation 3, and now we can safely guess it's because Microsoft was working on an exclusive deal.

While the PlayStation 3 and Wii may eventually get hooked up to other TV and movie streaming services, none are as big as Netflix. And if you're a Netflix subscriber, this deal could play a part in which console you choose to pick up if you're on the fence.

So THAT'S what exclusive means! I get it now, when Microsoft said a exclusive partnership it meant only them. In all honesty i never expected Netflix to go to Nintendo and Sony, Microsoft has people paying to use their gold service, i just see this as another perk.

Mods please do something about him, it's getting tedious now.

Most agreed. CBG never seems to search the forums before posting anything.
