+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted August 11, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted August 11, 2009 Actor Mark Sloan has posted on his resume that he has provided motion capture for Hitman 5 which is supposedly being developed by Rocksteady Studios. This is really the first we have heard about RockSteady working on the game, and other than Variety reporting back in June that a sequel to the Hitman film will ?contain story elements from Hitman 5″ and out ?in late 2010″, Eidos has not uttered a peep. Mark this down as the psychotic delusions of an actor until we hear different.Ok, we?re sure he?s not making it up or in need of medication, but still, we?ll contact Eidos and see if we can find out more. Thanks, Joystiq. Source: http://www.vg247.com/2009/08/11/rumor-rock...ng-on-hitman-5/
MightyJordan
Well, in the words of the Chuckle Brothers: "Oh dear oh dear oh dear". This company has developed only two games since they started in 2004: Urban Chaos: Riot Response, and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Enough said. R.I.P. Hitman. OK, to be fair, the movie pretty much hammered the nails in the coffin
Kostaz
Why not IO Interactive?
MightyJordan
Why not IO Interactive? Best guess is because they're owned by Square Enix now. And Eidos own the rights to Hitman.

I'm not too worried... especially after iO made the mediocre (but not horrid) Kane & Lynch. Also, Square Enix owns iO and Eidos.

But Batman is only their 2nd game ever made, so it doesn't really have a high target to beat! :p And yes, I do remember that ****fest that was Kane and Lynch, but I think they buggered up because they were trying something way different from the usual Hitman formula. Also, Square Enix owns iO and Eidos. So they do. My mistake. :p

MightyJordan
If Batman is anything go by, that's a good thing. If you think so, but personally, I think Hitman is doomed. They're doing a great job on the Batman game.. why are you so worried about Hitman? Because Batman isn't a good game. It was just your typical action-adventure game with fighting mechanics lifted straight from Prince of Persia. I think myself (un)lucky that I decided to go through the entire demo. MightyJordan
Also, let's not forget the fact that Eidos were forcing magazines to hold back their reviews for a little while if they weren't praising! They would only let magazines release their reviews early if they gave a score of 8/10 or higher. It's like the Kane and Lynch Gamespot fiasco, so it pretty much sums up how bad the game is. Studios have frequent turnovers, so why would you want to base it off their older game, which likely had a completely different staff?
MightyJordan
OK, but why would you not judge a studio's potential based on their most recent game? Well technically, I am now, by basing their potential based on Batman: Arkham Asylum, and the signs aren't really good.

AB, a game demo is meant to showcase some of the best bits of the game to get you to buy it and play the rest. If the level I played in the Batman demo was one of the best bits of the game, I'll just thank myself lucky the demo has saved me ?40. The weird thing is that over here, it's being released on my birthday.:pp

It didn't even include any set pieces or major story nor any boss interaction. You're gonna miss out man.

If the level I played in the Batman demo was one of the best bits of the game, I'll just thank myself lucky the demo has saved me ?40. The weird thing is that over here, it's being released on my birthday.:pp Not really... well, for many genres/games that's just not possible, or very difficult to portray in a 10-15 minute slice of gameplay. I only ever really view demos as a way to get accustomed to the gameplay, I'd much rather base my purchase on what I know I like and reviews. I mean, a demo of something like MGS? That game relies so heavily on story a demo would be ****ing "pointless". Well, to be fair I did replay the MGS1 demo about 1,000 times, but that was because it was 'new' gameplay back then:pp In fact, I hardly ever download demos nowadays... Yeah, that's right, I just know myself that well as a gamer I can go out and buy a game and know if I'll like it:pp Plus as I said, I read lots of reviews on a game before buying, get a good mix of opinion.... and by reading a review, I actually mean reading it, not just looking at the score. The reason Batman is scoring highly seems to be largely attributed to how closely it actually follows Batman lore, a lot of people buying this are buying it because they like Batman, they like the characters, etc. You might not like the game based upon your short demo experience but it looks to be the 'best' batman fan made game yet. That is credit to the developers, if they manage to capture what the fans of batman want.

If that's the case, then that's probably a big part of why I don't like this game, as I have never been a fan of Batman. :p

I thought you'd of liked them for some reason :p Hitman is one of my favourite series, I guess it's because I just enjoyed the freedom of completing missions how I wanted. Related to Hitman, I remember how amazed I was on the 4th game was it?, in the level where you're out in the middle of a street festival and there's hundreds of people everywhere! Spookie
Hitman is the most repetitive series in history. The game has hardly changed since the first. About time someone else took over the reigns!

It was a fairly fun game, but it had more than its fair share of flaws. The reviews of it were all pretty spot-on. It had a lot of potential, but was definitely released too soon. I'm hoping they can fix the vast amount of flaws in the sequel.

And tbh I wouldn't mind a bit more stealth into the Hitman series, more splinter cell esque.
