CoD: World at War 50% off on Steam

I would rather buy MW2 than this. I bought WaW off of my friend for $20 for the PC and I hated it. I just couldn't get into it and making it look and feel like MW, but with different guns and a different era didn't help.

Skip this game.

:D I am glad that someone agrees with me, some of my friends don't. I can't believe that a lot of people even bought the game, just a disappointment.

Actually, most people I know liked MW much better (and still play more) than WaW.

You can get new boxed copies off eBay for cheaper.. and with MW2 coming up, would you really want COD4 with different skins? And dogs instead of helicopters?

I'm not a complete cynic, I own COD:WAW already :)

As I don't play the multiplayer, I wasn't significantly impressed by the SP campaign to want to buy the game even for ?14.99

Third party games on steam are generally a complete rip off

Absolutely. The singleplayer isn't very good. I didn't even finish it. But I still play the Multiplayer, for all it's flaws it's still pretty good fun.

Isn't this the second time it's on sale?

We would have to be closer to 90% off before I would even consider it, the game is terrible. Zombie mode was fun for a few days but the single-player storyline is typical Treyarch, bland, boring and lacking passion. Multiplayer is just a copy & paste job off Modern Warfare and they even managed to make it worse, more tedious and boring. Plus the bullet flight time physics are terrible and really noticeable in a game with semi and bolt action rifles. Oh and the multiplayer maps are so incredibly bland.

Massive skip.

I think that was the big thing for me. I didn't bother with the single player game at all (which seems to have been a good move), but the multiplayer just lacked any sort of identity of its own. In most good multiplayer FPS games, I can recall my favorite maps. Whenever I think of CoD4:MW, I think about Crash or Showdown (I realize that a lot of you hate that map :)), and whenever I think of Wolf:ET, I think of Goldrush. I've put at least ten hours into WaW's multiplayer, and I still can't think of a single map worth remember. It's just one bland, war-torn environment after another.
