If Wolfenstein Beats Madden, Wolfenstein Is Free

Recommended Posts

Raven Software designer Manveer Heir has mounted a one-man Twitter Wolfenstein marketing campaign, offering to pay for your copy of the game if it manages to outsell Madden 10. Yes, he's completely serious folks. If the latest game in the long-running first-person shooter franchise manages to topple the game that generally dominates the month of August, he'll reimburse you the full retail price for Wolfenstein.

Here's the original tweet:

Here's the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) - SPREAD THE WORD

Since that original post earlier this morning, Heir has gone on the clarify details about the offer. For instance, reimbursements will take place on an international level, and he'll be using official NPD numbers to determine whether or not he needs to pay. Oh, and you need to follow him on Twitter to collect, so pay close attention to the link below.

It's a pretty bold statement, but I'd say that going up against Madden for the month of October with a first-person shooter is like trying to entice your football-loving spouse into sex with a striptease in front of the television on Super Bowl Sunday. It's futile, and you could get hurt.

Besides, if he has that kind of money to spend, why not buy a bunch of copies himself to pad the numbers? It would certainly save him a fortune in PayPal fees.

Not ever going to happen, but it would be funny as hell if it did. He would be bankrupt and then some

Well, hey if you are a fan - it's a win win situation for you. I like Wolfenstein but I don't think it'll be able to, however, if it was MW2 - then hahaha.........well I'll have my money on MW2

Definately a way to get the numbers up.

Worried about sales are we? heh heh.

Well why wouldn't they. Madden always does well when it releases.

It won't happen though. :/ It would be nice. :p

Too bad there's no way to get this out to the masses. If everyone who is going to buy Madden got Wolf instead, they could just use the money repaid for buying Wolf to get Madden as well. 2 games for the price of 1  . Not to mention the look on this guy's face when he realizes he has to reimburse all those people. Priceless!!!

I don't get why madden sells so much it's a roster update with some new features but it's nothing else new it's the same idea why do people pay $60 for that year after year i used to play it but even then i only bought a new one every 3 or 4 years.

Well, I buy the new NHL game every year. If you're into it, you just want the latest. Personally I find Madden boring as hell, that's the reason I don't get why it's so popular. Americans love their football though.

Doesn't this mean we should all buy 100 copies each since its going to be free anyways? :p

Ofcourse, Raven will probably limit the number of copies in the stores before this happens. :D

Don't really want to have to follow him on Twitter to figure out how to get it free.. never played any of the Wolfenstein games anyway.

They've got people hooked on buying these sport games year after year anyway, so it's no surprise to me that the sales figures are so high.

Imagine all the hopeful people buying the game in an attempt to get a refund, then it doesn't do better than Madden and they're stuck with a $50 turd - Lawl, it's bound to happen, the whining will never end.
