Did Consoles Ruin DLC?

Recommended Posts

Shakey, i do not believe PC gamers like yourself are the problem, its those PC gamers who try and defy big companies and have that mind set of 'why pay for it when i can get it for free?' And have been doing so since the dawn of games on PC

Id say developers are leaning towards consoles now cause piracy is a lot, lot lower on 360/PS3 at this time..and more money can be made.

You never know, one day, it might all change!

What really ****ed me off was the fact that some companies have been selective in DLC. Favoritism much?

Think the new Prince of Persia here. No DLC for PC. Farcry 2 DLC? Only if you bought it through steam OR you're in USA, UK or Canada. (I couldn't purchase DLC for FC2 here in Aus).

DLC is nice, but IMO, more needs to be done. There's a growing divide over consoles and PCs, some saying PC gaming is dying, but I think not. I just think the scene is changing.

That's another thing I'm peeved about too. Are they trying to purposely split everyone apart? Why does PS3 batman get joker mode and xbox and pc don't? What did those players ever do to not get it?

Exclusive content is a nice booster for sales, but in the long run, it can give the company a bad image as well, when people start viewing it as not being treated equal. Why should I pay the same price as you, when you get more? Why should I then have to spend more money on something you did not have to?

Game companies lost the picture a while ago. They have been spitting out rehashed clones for the past like 7 to 8 years. lately, the most fun and innovating games have been coming out either on xna or on the pc by users like ourselves.

Consoles didn't ruin a thing. Greedy publishers did. I see all the new "song" releases for the band games, $2 a song...as long as people buy these overpriced DLC, companies will go for every cent they can get out of you.

I have a question, how many of you have actually went to the source of the article and read the full thing, instead of just commenting on the first part of the article that was posted here, as well as commenting on other's comments?

You are pretty naive to think most people would read that wall of text.
