Haven't played since, should be playing later on. Such an awesome game.

Minimoose
I got my key yesterday, created a Battle Suit person (don't know the exact thing they are called), very cool how you can fire out from your hands, shoulder/eyes and chest all at the same time. The character customisation is brilliant, hopefully they will add more skins later on but I doubt this. Just going to start a Gunslinger in a trenchcoat and cowboy hat :D Very fun to play with friends, also if you want a very good travelling skill at the start I would recommend teleportation, since it's extremely fast for getting you around. Every other transportation skill has various downsides, although they are all very fun. I chose rocket boots on this guy and I would much rather have teleportation, I will have to wait until level 20 to get another transportation skill :)
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted August 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 22, 2009 I received my beta key from FilePlanet and downloaded (and installed) the client. Now, the game won't even launch properly. It's stuck at some pre-launch window with the following message: "No shards found: You have a ticket with 0 permission pairs, but no shards"
Minifig
I chose rocket boots on this guy and I would much rather have teleportation, I will have to wait until level 20 to get another transportation skill 35 is when the second travel power unlocks. It's stuck at some pre-launch window with the following message: "No shards found: You have a ticket with 0 permission pairs, but no shards" Keep retrying Anaron. It's a known issue. It's only because the servers are getting hammered so much because of the File Planet people. :) ---- If you guys have any questions about the game, please ask me, I can field almost any questions. I'm an Op in the official IRC channel, and will be founding an SG the first day of the early start if I can pick up my copy early enough. frozen.coldfront.net port 6667 , #ChampionsOnline for the official IRC room. My name is Minifig if you want to toss me a friends request in game.. if you're buying it, I'm also known as Minifig in the IRC room.
Symbiotic Hat
Well I've played for a few days now and I'm up to level 12 and I'm really getting bored with the wash rinse repeat gameplay. Another thing is the HORRIBLE performance. The combat feels disconnected. However the early travel powers are awesome. The upgraded gear system seems a little like an afterthought as well. I'm not impressed and glad I saved my $50.
Minimoose
Yeah I like it but it's not something which is going to hold my attention.

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted August 23, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 23, 2009 I kept trying and it finally worked (thanks Andrew-DB). The game seems somewhat fun with the whole hero aspect. The various abilities are quite interesting and it's kinda nice to see the characters that people come up with. The graphics are pretty decent and the gameplay is alright, but there's something about it that I can't get my finger on. So far, I don't see myself paying a monthly fee for this game. Comic Book Guy
I think the game would have been better with the addition of playable villians, because everyone is a hero and that does get a bit boring after a while.
Minimoose
1) Lack of variety in skills makes the fighting boring, and since the game is based on fighting it is rather flawed in that sense 2) Skill system has no depth, yes you can upgrade skills but most of the upgrades are very similar for each skill. 3) Weird equipment system, I don't understand why they needed so many slots, kind of gets tedious deciding between different secondary slots. These are the main reasons I cancelled my pre-order, I have yet to come across a game that beats Guild Wars in attribute/skill systems.
Minifig
I think the game would have been better with the addition of playable villians, because everyone is a hero and that does get a bit boring after a while. If you get to 25, you create your own nemesis.
Comic Book Guy
If you get to 25, you create your own nemesis. I took you off ignore, just to answer this. I know that, and that's not what I meant. If you have your player character is a hero, then why not have player characters that are villians, not AI controlled, human controlled.
Vidar
What breaks this from the mold from CoX? I joined CoX when Villians first came out and despite the amazing customization of characters, the tedious missions were what killed it for me. I've played WoW for years now and the story/game captured my attention (until it too has grown stale).
