MS increases Arcade 360 price in UK

Recommended Posts

Unless this comes with what the Pro had, then it's a really poor move.

Very disappointing for consumers this year for people looking to buy an XBOX360.

Depending on what is included in the Arcade box, it might simply be a case the Arcade has actually been removed, and the Pro has been renamed.

i.e if the "new Arcade" includes a hard drive.

I don't think that that is going to happen.

As you can see on the new X360 Box's you can see what will be coming with it.

No hard drive is shown, just instead of a wired controller its going to be a wireless. I don't think that a wireless controller justifies this price increase.

Especially considering that the UK is one of the European countries NOT yet recovering from the economic decline.

The stage is set for a UK recovery, in July UK car manufacturing up 12%, house prices up, pound up against euro and dollar, retail sales up etc. Spain is far off from recovery, Italy to will have to wait a bit longer.

:o this is pretty bad. If the price of the elite doesn't fall it's going to mean that you'll basically have to pay ?220 for a 360 which is just insane.

i hope microsoft knows what its doing....

I believe the arcade has came with a wireless controller for a while now.

Under Labour, I doubt it.

I actually did not know that. :p My mistake. I am right about the other things though. :p

I still think it is a ploy to push people to the elite. Therefore having the storage space to buy the over priced Games on Demand.

this is going to e fun explaining to customers that the Arcade is now ?30 more expensive because they waited till sept/oct to buy their kid xmas presents.

Sigh your one of those pessimists that expects everything to stay doomed forever, labour may not have done the best job handling the recession but they did much better than some countries and a lot better than the tories would have done.

It's not pessimism, it's observation. Who said anything about the Tories either? The hyperthetical assumption that any other party wouldn't have done better is exactly that, hyperthetical.

This is an observation coming from a 24 year old who can't spell hypothetical? Hmm :hmmm:

So whilst there are rumours that the PS3 price is to drop, Microsoft decide they want to increase the price and drop games from the package making their console overall less attractive. Hmmmm.

Wow, you Brits are getting the short end of the stick as usual in terms of gaming. In North America, the Premium is being phased out and the Elite is taking it's spot and the selling price will the price of the premium it is replacing. Really seems like the gaming industry hates the UK .. first the Modern Warfare 2 price increases and the Sony Exec calling for increase in prices in games and now this.

Fair enough. :p

You can't avoid the politics of gaming here though. But we all know which games console is better right. :shiftyninja: ;)

It is indeed seeming they are just trying to push the higher models of the console, and why not really, I got a 'Pro' as a good middle ground and managed to get a really good deal on it for like an extra ?30 over the arcade, why the heck not:))

It is annoying for those who just want the baseline content, but eventually most people will want or even need the hard drive for certain things and it makes sense to have it really. Plus that chrome dvd tray made all the difference to my superficial nature :

You might as well wait till next year when Natal launches alongside a Slim Xbox 360. SKU madness. I think Microsoft want to keep the price level higher than normal so when the new 360 comes out with a slightly lower price bundled with Natal it will look like a decent bargain. Microsoft wouldn't want to be in the position of raising the price of SKUs when trying to launch Natal. Doing it now, people will only see the shiny new 360 Slim +Natal box at a cheaper price forgetting it's priced at the same bargain level last year before MS hiked the price.
