DrunknMunky Veteran Posted August 17, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) By Luke Plunkett No doubt flushed with the unexpected success of it all, Microsoft this morning released some statistics for their Xbox Live party/quiz title 1 vs 100. Most importantly, that it's been downloaded 2.5 million times. Also disclosed were the records for players in one night (230,000 in North America, 215,000 in Europe), as well as simultaneous players (114,000 in a single session in North America, 79,000 in the UK & Ireland). For reference, the game is only currently available in the US, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and France. http://kotaku.com/5338795/1vs100-25-millio...-a-single-night Edited August 17, 2009 by DrunknMunky

jerzdawg
well they still have some work to do... I was in the mob two weeks ago and on the 3rd question I got disconnected from the game... :DHow do you play this game? Can you cheat and use google for the answers? Is there only ever one "1", or are there packs of players? Do you have to queue up to play? (I've never seen it on Tv) How do you play this game? - must be gold member, just goto one of the live channels and you can play the live show Friday and Saturday night, otherwise you can play the non-live show all different times during the week. Can you cheat and use google for the answers? - not that much time is given to do a search and answer Is there only ever one "1", or are there packs of players? - 1 - "one" - 100 - "mob members" - and i think the crowd is unlimited. Do you have to queue up to play? - not that I have seen The better you are in the crowd.. the better your odds at getting into the mob or even the one. I went 6 for 6 one round answering fairly quickly and the following round I was selected into the mob..
Dead_Monkey
:DHow do you play this game? Can you cheat and use google for the answers? Is there only ever one "1", or are there packs of players? Do you have to queue up to play? (I've never seen it on Tv) 1. It's a quiz game. You are presented with a question and then three possible responses are revealed one at a time, you select a response with the X A or B button. Based on the time that it takes you to ring in once the response is available, you are awarded points, then you get bonus points for ringing in in a timely manner, and you get points for a correct answer based on how many sequential correct answers you have (streak), you also get points based on the number of people who get the answer wrong if you got it right. 2. You could but you would have to be very fast, there are other exploits in the game right now that I am hoping they fix. 3. In the normal nightly games the core gameplay is the same but the setup is different than the live shows. You can build up skips by answering correctly sequentially and then you can use the skip to avoid answering a question incorrectly breaking your streak. In the live game, there is a "one" and a "mob" and the "crowd." There are 100 players initially in the "mob." These players are eliminated from prize contention over time. You win prizes in the live games by being one of the top 3 overall scorers in the round (anyone is eligible) or by being in the mob if the one loses and there are fewer than 60 players left in the mob at that point in time, or by being the one and leaving before answering a question incorrectly (or by answering all of the questions correctly). The one is afforded the questionable benefit of three outs where they can automatically select the most popular answer from the crowd, the mob, or they can select the answer of the player with the best score for the round (which is a big mistake because of the exploit). 4. Everyone plays simultaneously but there is a staging for synchronization, between rounds in the live show mob and one members are selected based on certain criteria (which is what permits the exploit mentioned above to work). I was in one live session where there was a mass disconnect, and there are audio issues if you do not have an "open" NAT on your router. Generally it's good fun because I like quiz games, but I'm very annoyed by the exploit and I won't play until they fix it.
Ironman273
Wow, that's awesome. Hopefully the success leads to other great audience participation games.
lunamonkey
It sounds good. I read up on the wiki too, but it still wasn't overly clear. I'd be so nervous if I was on it. I wouldn't stand a chance. :p
