Blizzcon 2009

So what's this November 2010 everyone keeps mentioning?. I'm either not paying attention very well or you all know something i don't lol.

Here's the easy answer to when Cataclysm is out; wait for the release date of TOR, and Cataclysm will be out within a month of that date. I'd put money on it.

All these people who whine about easy epics nowadays are fail. It was just as easy to get them in vanilla WoW, the only thing you needed was gobs of time to be able to use in a single session every other night. By doing this tho, Blizzard was pretty much ignoring the majority of their player base, which like it or not are casual players. They tend to play the same amount of time but it's spread out or they are unable to commit to raiding every night for 5/6 hours. It is totally unfair of Blizzard to deny those players the chance to experience the majority of the content and block them out from the main story-lines and focus on the small % of players who can.

If Blizzard had left the game the way it was, with 40 man raids and focused on just the hardcore, I seriously doubt WoW's subscriber base would be anywhere near as high as it is nowadays. The hardcore players would have no-one to sit around feeling superior to, they would have slowly disappeared due to burn out and the game would just die.

For the record, I was a guild leader back in vanilla WoW who managed to get all the way up to AQ before collapse. It was just way to much drama and hassle to put out a consistent large raiding team every night and you felt as if you was working in a HR job rather than playing a game. You have players burning out all the time from overplaying the game. I now play it much more casual and it's way more fun as you don't get bored with it so easily.

As for these changes in this expansion, the game needed it really. If they pushed out another "here have 10 levels" expansion which offered no real change over the last one then the game would just stagnate. The barrier to entry for new players (It's still in the top PC game sales chart) is pretty stupid at the moment as they are playing through content which was designed with grouping and instancing in mind now play through the 1-60 game with very few people around, so it makes complete sense to reflow and refine the leveling experience.

*Edit* This TOR stuff makes me laugh tho, they've released precious few gameplay videos a few trailers that look NOTHING LIKE THE GAME and everyone is getting all hot about it, which makes no sense. Whist a WoW killer will come along eventually, It gets a little boring having people proclaim every new MMO that comes along as one without actually playing the game or seeing how well it does on release.

1 Trailers build hype I don't think anyone denies this and its stupid to keep pointing it out. Also this is bioware, I can count on one hand the number of devlopers that have a fanbase large enough to go after wows numbers or has the track record blizzard does. NWN1, KOTOR, ME, BG1 and 2, people have a reason to be pumped as bioware does not put out bad products.

2 They have about 20mins of gameplay up on IGN I believe. It looks pretty cool and it shows both some of the cool attacks and the full voice over and dialogue, including a scene where the party memeber get to chime in.

Is it possible to watch the Blizzcon in decent quality somewhere, it has to be released somewhere after it ended - Especially with all those streams going, someone had to have a recorder running :p

Yeah I was really hoping for next gen mmo info. Everything else was kinda meh.

I don't see that info coming out until after WOW releases Cataclym.. They don't want to take away sales from it.

That might be announced next year, else they have nothing they couldn't have demoed at E3. As Cataclysm will be/coming out round then, SCII will be out round the same time and Diablo III we will have seen 3 times previously.

There is a recording, but it is posted on one warez forum. I don't think I am allowed to post links here.

i paid for the online stream to watch blizzcon being that i live in ohio and cannot afford to attend. However i am expecting a announcement for the next WoW Expansion, and a few more cinematic for Diablo III and Starcraft II then again today we were given a sneak peak at a starcraft II cinematic so who knows what is around the corner. But hey we will find out in just a few days.

Blizzard makes you pay for the stream? God Blizzard are cheap *******. I found plenty of streams on Justin.tv and was able to watch the parts I cared about.
