DaGrayMan
There's a game shop in a nearby county that sells old ps1 games. Lately, I've started trying to collect all the ps1 rpgs. I went to the shop today and bought some PS1 games. They have a return policy of 24 hours for used games (I know, it's very short). All their ps1 games have been refurbished, and they don't know if they will work but they should. After 24 hours, I can't return them and can exchange them (if they have another copy) within 30 days. I know that you can make a backup of the old ps1 games. Will the games work if you're not able to make a backup copy? Or, is part of the data damaged. I don't want to keep the games if I can't play them all the way through and I only have 24 hours from when I bought them to return them. I've bought some games from them before (ex. FFVII) and was able to back them up and play them. I've never returned any game to their shop either. The problem is, some of the games won't copy. I want to be sure that I can play the games all the way through, but I only have 24 hours before I can't take them back. These were the only copies of the games that they had and I doubt someone is going to magically bring another one in before the 30 day limit. So, will they work or should I return them? DaGrayMan
No, it doesn't. It's legal to make a backup copy of a game or cd that is not encrypted if you own the original. I don't have any backup copies of media that I do not own. All I want to know is if the data on the game is damaged and will freeze while I'm playing it. I only have 24 hours to return them, and I can't exchange them because these were the only copies they had.
t0mbi
if you make a copy and return the original, thats illegal lol if you can make a copy and the program that you use to make the copy says it is a success, it should work fine. normally if i game is damaged, the program normally has problems backing it up. DaGrayMan
I know not to make a copy and return the original. Like you said, it's illegal :) Only 2 games copied. Now, I've got to take back the other three. Goodbye ChronoCross...
Coldgunner
Or you could just use the originals. Unless you spend every waking hour throwing and walking on discs they won't scratch. If the discs are damaged from the shop, take them back.
