Yusuf M. Veteran Posted October 2, 2009 Veteran Share Posted October 2, 2009 A hardcore mode would be nice. I only play hardcore mode in Call of Duty 4. Playing without it makes the game seem boring and less skill-based. It's not a must-have feature though. I'm sure the game will be fun without it. Massiveterra
I would come out and say that a Hardcore mode for a Battlefield game would be annoying, especially since the maps are so large, and it's heavily team and objectives based. Since shooting people in this game is just a means to an end, and not the objective, then I think the spongehead treatment makes the game rather well balanced. Could not agree more and you absolutely beat me to it, was just going to post that. Hardcore mode would make Battlefield among the worse games ever. Let's just pretend hardcore mode did exist for a second, and lets just pretend you only needed one rocket to kill me in the tank. You would barely get that one rocket off, because if I only needed one or two shots from the tanks turret, as that is realistic, people would not stand a chance. Sure, once in a blue moon someone would get a rocket off behind me, etc., but especially if I find a squad spawning on each other, forget about it. Over. I am going to go way more kills before you get to me, and the balance would not be fair. So thats why I feel massiveterra hit the nail on the head. Smigit
are they adding CO-OP? That was a noticable omission from the first games campaign and there was really only one level which wasn't suited for it. I'd love to see that included.
LOC Veteran Posted October 2, 2009 Veteran Share Posted October 2, 2009 Yeah, personally a hardcore mode for a BF game just wouldn't work if you ask me. The BF series isn't known for it's realism (though one can argue 1942 and BF2 went way more realistic than the past few) and a hardcore mode aka no hud/one shot one kill/less ammo etc would ruin the play experience of BF online I think. The whole point of a BF game (and the devs will tell you this) is the unpredictability of what happens on the battlefield. Especially now with destruction (2.0) it's even more random sometimes. (ugh bad English, sorry I just woke up) Then again a SINGLE PLAYER hardcore mode I could accept. Online, not so much.

Well hurray for adding choices for players, you could just stick to standard modes while other people play Hardcore ... Say like brilliant minds at IW found out. That running out in the open unprepared will get you killed and not just get you shot at so you can look back, wait 5 seconds, bunnyjump like hell then your enemy and kill him. Hardcore modes introduce much more fun situations as people actually care about their lives instead of "Oh, Im fearless because my imaginary armor takes 15 bullets before I die" Example; People dont give a **** about suppresive fire from a SAW because it simply wont do no harm. It becomes much more tactical when weapons are lethal. Your action have consequences - you die if you do it wrong. As it is now, Your action have consequences - you get to live if you do it wrong :p With the sissy rocketlaunchers in the battlefield series you would need more than 1 round to take down a tank. And people WOULD stand a chance if they actually used their head a thought of a good plan to take down this tank. Not just think theyre invincible. And either way, as Battlefield 2 is now, people dont stand a chance anyway. You see tanks with a 150 kill streak because they rape people on infantry maps regardless of how many rounds it takes, 2 or 7 :s Yeah, personally a hardcore mode for a BF game just wouldn't work if you ask me. So if hardcore mode was added the randomness would stop? wtf? :p Anyways, as Sethos said - at least give us the choice. There is definitely a market for it as the only mod of BF2 really played is Project Reality which focuses on making battlefield more realistic. (ugh bad English, sorry I just woke up) During the Bad Company 2 tournament at PAX09, I flattened an entire 3-story building and killed a full squad that had just spawned on the turret gunner on the roof. I almost killed a helicopter with an ATV, you know, as in the Mongoose from Halo. Sped up a hill and ran into it. I can't wait to see the random crap that happens when this game comes out.
