But I'm not on German time, atm... Cali time blows when it comes to the gaming world... save for Bungie...

Microsoft isn't billing its gamescom conference as a massive, platform-level event the way that Sony is, with senior personnel telling Eurogamer that they regard the Cologne event as a European show and won't be attending in force.

They've only sold 9million Xbox 360s in Europe, so yeah **** European shows :pinch:

I guess they didn't have much more to say than Fable III.

Sony always do more at Gamescom than anyone else, heck in the past MS/Nintendo haven't even had a presence (Nintendo still don't).

It was confirmed before this it was more of a Peter Molyneux show than MS show. Although that led people to think about Natal due to Molyneux now heading a studio.

Either way nice to see Fable 3 confirmed :) I thought the teaser images were for Black and White 3 though :(

I hope MS have a bigger presence at TGS this year, which is next month. Although TGS is Japanese so it'll probably just be "here's some RPGs we need you Japanese to buy! :p".

Peter Molyneux announced during the Lionhead press conference at GamesCom that Fable II episodic adventures are on the way. The first chapter is free. Once players get to the ending they can opt to buy the next chapter or buy the rest of the game. The purchase takes place in game and there are five episodes.

The first episode will release on September 29 and no prices have been revealed. The game is fully compatible with Knothole Island and See the Future. We'll keep working on getting more information.

Update: Microsoft has clarified that this is not an extension of Fable II, but rather the retail game broken up into serialized chapters formally titled Fable II: Game Episodes. Xbox Live users will be able to download the initial episode, which serves as a "shell" for the rest of the game, on September 29.

The original game disc is not required to play, and those who grab part one will have the option to purchase subsequent pieces or the entirety of Fable II (think of it like an XBLA trial). If you've downloaded any of the game episodes and decide to spring for the retail disc, your saves will carry over. No per-episode pricing has been announced but we're chasing more details.

so there isn't new content? just fable 2 split into chapters? to entice people who haven't bought it yet to do so?

And make more money out of it in the long term I bet. Sort of like Games on Demand, but more retarded.

Screw Peter Molyneux and MS/Lionhead for not bringing Fable 2 over to the PC. Seriously, I think it's disgusting they didn't do a PC version of the game. It was a perfect time to announce it now as well with Fable 2 chapter things and Fable 3, why not Fable 2 PC with the DLC included?

Whatever.

Didn't realise the conference was that early lol.

I'm actually happy about the episodes thing. I'm not a huge fan of RPG's, but I am interested in Fable 2. Haven't bought it as I don't know if I'd like it. So the first chapter being free aswell is really good for me.

I am confused... was there a Lionhead Conference and a MS Conference?

Microsoft quiet on Xbox 360 price cut

GAMESCOM?09: Did excessive stock in the channel cause Microsoft to slam breaks on price cut announcement?i>

Whilst Peter Molyneux?s impressive Fable III presentation was a pleasant surprise for most at Gamescom, the biggest shock of all was the lowering of the curtains with not so much as a whisper of price cuts or new Xbox 360 SKUs.

Many ? including MCV ? were expecting Microsoft to announce a price cut to its high-end Xbox 360 Elite, replacing the Xbox 360 Pro in its range of console SKUs.

Some had also predicted a price rise for the Xbox 360 Arcade.

However, MCV was yesterday told by a national electronics retailer that Microsoft was considering delaying the announcement of its price cut whilst it waits for unusually high stock levels of both the Arcade and Elite to clear from the channel.

What is known is that Microsoft has informed retail of a new, as of yet unspecified, Xbox 360 SKU. Whether or not this is the anticipated Xbox 360 Elite price drop remains to be seen.
