+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted August 21, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted August 21, 2009 The English demo of Final Fantasy XIII will be in English and completely new and different from the Japanese demo, but only if there will be one. That?s what Yoshinori Kitase, producer for the game, told journalists at GamesCom earlier today. If a demo does come, it wont be on a Blu-ray or DVD. Instead, expect it on the PSN and Xbox Live.??we are thinking of providing it in a downloadable format,? said the Square dev legend.??if we were to provide the demo overseas, it would be a completely new version. ?Kitase also confirmed that the Japanese development of the game for the PS3 is over ninety percent complete now, while development for the Xbox 360 version is over seventy percent complete.More over at Joystiq and IGN. The game will release in the winter in Japan for the PS3, but Kitase-san told VG247 today that the game will receive a simultaneous release next spring in Europe and the US for PS3 and 360. He also told us they?re aiming to keep the amount of discs for the 360 version down to a minimum of three discs. +Mystic MVC Posted August 21, 2009 MVC Share Posted August 21, 2009 Woo hoo, this is great news! Never playing the FF series myself and only watching a friend play for 20 minutes left me wanting more. Demos can give a sense of the full game, but with a game as large as FFXIII, I hope I get good picture of what the full game will entail.
Rudy
He also told us they’re aiming to keep the amount of discs for the 360 version down to a minimum of three discs. shouldn't that be "maximum"
furyshinobi
Yay! Can't wait :) This will be my first Final Fantasy I played in a long time (skipped the FF during the PS2 era) :p Personally I doubt the game will be on 3 disks though on the 360... maybe 4 disks is the maximum like Lost Odyssey. Xerxes
shouldn't that be "maximum" No, this is FF which is known to be full of video cut scenes and they'll be in HD no doubt, so 3 discs minimum sounds about right!
Belazor
No, this is FF which is known to be full of video cut scenes and they'll be in HD no doubt, so 3 discs minimum sounds about right! Most likely the Xbox version won't have FMV cutscenes. Digital Foundry over at Eurogamer did the analysis. If he's correct, then the Xbox version will have slightly better lighting whereas the PS3 version will have better distance view and higher resolution cutscenes. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted August 21, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted August 21, 2009 shouldn't that be "maximum" No it's minimum to try and qualm any rumours that the 360 will get some version with compressed textures/FMVs. ?This is not the final count as we?re still working on it, but we?re aiming for about three discs for the Xbox 360 version,? said the developer.Kitase went on to assure that the two versions will be practically identical, although he did concede that there are likely to be ?subtle differences? between the two.? The 360 version and the PS3 version should be pretty much equal, both in terms of content and the visuals as well,? he added.? Since the hardware is different, there might be some subtle differences if you compare screenshots the team?s being very careful about the compression of the data and the visuals, so that it?s exactly the same on both. the same on both.? Corris Veteran Posted August 21, 2009 Veteran Share Posted August 21, 2009 I don't care about a demo, I just want the damn game, I'm use to lot of changes per game, they already have my money, I just want the damn game now.
Ji@nBing
They can make it as many disks as they want, I couldn't care less. I don't have any problem at all changing a disk every 10-15 hours of gameplay.
+Mystic MVC Posted August 22, 2009 MVC Share Posted August 22, 2009 So if 360 development is at 70%, shouldn't that mean the PS3 version should have be done a long time ago?
