Killing Floor Heavy Metal content pack released

Recommended Posts

Tripwire has released the free "Heavy Metal Content Pack" for Killing Floor. To celebrate they are tossing in a 10% discount on the game for the week. The free update introduces two new weapons, a new map and a bunch of other new features.
  • 2 new weapons: the AK-47 assault rifle beefs up the Commando Perk, with heavier hitting power in semi and full automatic fire modes. The Katana is a classic melee weapon that combines speed, reach and cutting power.
  • A brand new map: KF-Foundry. This map is set in a Horzine manufacturing facility, tucked away in an old steel foundry. Multiple levels, strange machinery and molten metal all serve to create an eerie and frantic location to fight off the specimen hordes!

Further new features include:

  • Added "On Fire" behavior to all Specimens. When a specimen burns a certain amount, they will now freak out and behave like a burning zed should, making the flamethrower more effective.
  • Updated the flashlight to look and act in a more realistic fashion.

Tweaks include:

  • Added smoke to the Scrake's Chainsaw.
  • Adjusted the spawning of the Patriarch boss character to prevent cases where the boss was spawning too close to players.
  • Adjusted Bullpup's firing sound to have more bass.
  • Adjusted "Crisp up" settings for some of the Specimens when on fire.
  • Updated Mutator and Map White Lists (see Killing Floor forums for more details)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Scrake's head glowing when decapitated.
  • Fixed "The Long War", "The Hard War", and "The Completely Suicidal War" achievements not unlocking.
  • Fixed known exploits on KF-Farm, KF-Manor, KF-Offices, and KF-WestLondon.

The pack is free to everyone who owns the game and will update automatically. Killing Floor is now available on Steam and is rolling out in stores across Europe and North America.

The AK47 is freaking awesome. So is the Katana. And the new map is just terrific. Plus the little changes they made really help out also (especially the flashlight thing and the exploit fixes, yay!).

I've been playing a ton of KF lately (like, 35 hours in the past week according to Steam) so, hit me up on Steam if any of you play or want to add me as a friend if you are gonna play (or buy the game).

Speaking of buying, Killing Floor is currently also on a 10% off sale, it's normally $19.99 but for the next week it's priced at $17.99. It may only be a $2 difference, but it's well worth it even at $20.

My Steam Profile - in case you wanna add me as a friend so we can partake in killing some specimens :D

It's not as addictive as l4d, I've played l4d constantly since it was released I played Killing Floor for around a month it's still a good game just gets old fast, all you do is roam around a city or farm trying to survive waves of monsters you get perks which make your class\weapons more effective, theirs a few bosses and a main hardcore boss at the end with a machine gun and rocket launcher it's a fun little game but if moneys a problem I wouldn't buy it although I'm not sure how expensive it is for Americans, it's ?15 over here thats around $25

So how does this game compare to Left 4 Dead? Me and a friend are thinking about getting it.

l4d is better. KF is fun for playing occasionally but it does get old. I have like 510 hours of playtime in l4d, proabbly my favorite multiplayer game ever. KF is good for the price though, its a fun game.

The new map KF, foundry is really awesome, my favorite KF map now. And the AK47 is awesome. ANyone notice the new soundtrack on foundry? its awesome.

And thank god they fixed the flashlight it was more detrimental than helpful before and extremely ugly. its still pretty crappy compared to even old games but it looks much more tolerable now.

It's a great game. It's one of the few titles I've pre-ordered. I'll definitely give the new map a run-through.

That and it's made by Tripwire so I knew It'd be good. They made Red Orchestra and that game was so much win. Again, that wasn't for everybody either.
