toadeater
Multiplayer is broken. Singleplayer is dumbed down to the point of being almost a casual game. At first I thought "Wow, I've gotten better at FPSes since CoD4, I seem to never miss," but then I realized the auto-aim and joypad-centric gameplay make playing with a mouse about as exciting as one of those Duck Hunt web games. Just hold the trigger down and you'll kill everything you point at, no aiming necessary. The graphics don't look much better than a Quake 3 game, and overall it plays like a Quake 3 game, like they didn't improve anything. The story is not worth a damn either, but I guess no one expected another Bioshock when the topic is Nazis and zombies. It's basically Hellboy, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Top Secret* mixed together. There's even a guy that looks like Karl Ruprecht Kroenen from Hellboy in it; I'm not sure if that's supposed to be an homage or a blatant ripoff. Wolfenstein's broken multiplayer (not my video): * In case you never heard of it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088286/
Bubbabyte
i haven't tried MP yet aside from the Beta which was kinda fun. But single player in my opinion is awesome and so much fun.
Pc_Madness
Its a leaked beta that they're playing right? As in, unreleased, still being developed and likely to have things not working correctly? How do you know the auto aim that you experienced wasn't intended for the 360 version?
t0mbi
HAHA that was terrible lol and that guy talking was cracking me up :p
iamwhoiam
Multiplayer is broken. Singleplayer is dumbed down to the point of being almost a casual game. It's a bad console port. I played a friends copy, and it won't be anything that I'd spend my money on. If they had made something similar to Enemy Territory (for MP), or the first remake. I'd bought it in an instant. It's a crappy port to rake in the money. Sad thing is, it'll rake in the money because of the name.If it doesn't make the money they want, they'll claim it was due to piracy when it just a crap game. Rohdekill
I said this game was going to be crap when someone first posted that it was coming out. And, I got razzed for it. I'm glad I didn't spend a penny on it.

t0mbi
Apparently a lot of the Multi-Player team were sacked after it was released... ahh yeah true that. there's a whole thread around here somewhere about that. :)
Lovell
Most people thought it would be bad after the first game play footage was released, such a shame they consoled it down to sell it to the xbox and ps3 crowds while saying **** you to the RTCW/ET gamers, after all the crap they received on ET forums about how it wasn't what they wanted and they seem shocked that people don't like it :/
BoDEAN
Game's junk.
jester1x
Actually, the graphics are sub-standard but the gameplay is actually quite good. I'd say the bosses are a bit easy though. Anyways...you can turn the auto-aim feature off to make it more interesting. The beginning of the game does dissuade one from continuing to play. But, it really gets better further along in the game. If you have played it and don't like it then I understand. If you're giving an opinion based on another's not so favorable opinion you may be missing out. LOC Veteran Posted September 3, 2009 Veteran Share Posted September 3, 2009 I wouldn't say the graphics are sub-standard. They are certainly not cutting edge, but they are still fairly good looking. I mean, it's the Doom 3 engine, not the Quake 2 engine here. The lighting effects are still very nice looking, as are some of the particle effects and especially the shadows and level design. Sure the characters look like they came out of the Barbie Doll factory, but hey can't win em all. Gameplay wise, I had a blast playing this on PC. Haven't gotten past the first mission after you get to the hub town, but I intend to finish this game hopefully. It's got a nice RPG-lite progression system in it, and the single player is actually quite long. The story is horrid, but then again what did you expect? The voice acting is pretty good, except for the fact that your "allies" all talk with German accents, makes it less believable I guess to me. Overall though, I quite liked the game on PC. Havent played MP yet but I'm sure it's good. It's the RtCW style, but less polished of course. Plus like it's been mentioned the entire MP team was let go pretty much right after release. So, eh. ViperAFK
Single player is fine, never even tried multi though.
EvilDMT
It's not a bad game single player wise, and totally off topic it even plays under WINE perfectly in Linux :)
Dotdot
Im enjoying the Sp quiet a bit aslong as you turn your brain off and take it as an off the wall Nazi-Zombie shooter then its good. Graphics wise more than decent for a reworked Doom3 engine. Havent tried MP but Ive heard its quite bad until the patch is installed. Ive been looking forward to this Wolfy and IMHO if you compare it to RTCW then this is a lot more colourful and engaging. Once youve got all your Mire powers then the game gets good imho until then you jus need to taake it as you find it. I dont feel this is a bad port or console-rific to the point it hampers the game. Fact id say theyve hit the middle ground pretty well. Lot of peope seem to think that when they were gonna make Wolf/Doom remakes for our new generation tech that they were gonna re-invent it to be like todays mmo/rpg/action cross fps games. Well dont expect it Doom and Wolfy were corridor shooters over the top and there for the pure purpose of blastin **** back to hell. Personally as someone who loved this in the originals i wouldnt want it broken. I can live with upgradable guns in SP and can see its been added to shut some folk up and quench that niggle of "corridor blaster" but if it aint broke dont fix it. ichi
I guess no one expected another Bioshock when the topic is Nazis and zombies. Not that I expected it (being Wolfenstein and all), but that could be quite interesting
Miuku.
Wolfenstein was really, really bad. I mean really bad. I tried to look at it from a "brains off, mouse button on" perspective but it felt like punishing myself just to complete the game, in record time no less. geddeeee
Wolfenstein is one of the best games I've played in a while. Yeah the AI is a bit crappy sometimes, but it's still enjoyable. The graphics are good. The 5.1 directional sound is also superb. Placement is good, and scary. If I wanted to see a graphics demo, I would have downloaded one from ATI or nVidia...... For me, the gameplay is great. Very slick, and also it has Raven's design. No more to be said. A very enjoyable single player romp......

Subject Delta
I like what I have seen from this game. Seems they have copied quiet a few gameplay elements from the CoD games, but overall I am pretty pleased with the game design, and the graphics are also reasonable. Not groundbreaking by any means, but a pretty fun game to play and it runs very smoothly.

Dotdot
This was on my buy list. Now it isn't. Based on? Im nearly thru the game now and its not as bad as your all making out. Maybe im just used to a simpler time when FPS games didnt have to have RPG elements and quirks just to get you playing them. It was more than enuff jus to be having fun killin ludicrious monsters etc and watchin there entrails spray about the place. As ive said before this is Wolfenstein, just like Doom its routes are basic, point click shoot. Aslong as the games flows and plays well, which Wolfy does then whats the harm? Yeh its no OMFG masterpiece but its a decent wee romp to fill a few hours until the pre Xmas release pile up.
Icarus ^i^
This game fell off my radar after reading some bad things about it initially, but hearing impressions from my favourite podcasts (1up, rebelFM etc), they all seem to think the SP is pretty awesome :) I really don't care about the MP part so will pick it up asap. Treemonkeys
Return to Castle Wolfenstein MP was epic. It was at the time but I think it would be considered quite average right now. I also wonder about how many people complaining about the mutiplayer are playing it on console or PC, if you look at ET: Quake Wars for example the multiplayer on the console versions is a complete joke while the PC version is quite good. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the same thing going on here, but I haven't tried the multiplayer yet. I agree with others that the single player is quite good and I think it is easily better than the RTCW single player.
